Might as well share my thoughts on Basketball

Mar 1, 2013, 8:54 AM

Everyone else is giving an opinion this morning so I thought I would share mine. At the beginning of this season it was evident that this team had no leader on the court. Even coach Brownell said the same in early season interviews. Milt and Booker are not leaders and when the games are close you need a leader to step up and motivate the team to a win. When things get out of control and a team starts to pull away a leader brings the team together and starts the comeback.

I really did not expect much this year but I do think you will see improvement next season. Yes we are losing size and seniors but we may just gain a leader. When older players graduate it gives young guys a chance to step up. If someone on this team can develop into a leader you will see an improved team. I hate losing as much as anyone but just like Dabo's bad season you can see the chance for development with this team and the pieces are in place to change things.

We just need players and right now we lack talent. Simple as that, but i would love to see this team running a full court press with the strong defense we play combined with the smaller athletes we can put on the floor. How else is Sullivan going to get off the bench. This team needs open shots in transition and fast break layups to win. In the half court continue feeding Book. We need to stop waiting for a shooter to emerge and develop a scheme around what you have. I think CBB can do it!

players like him, I think it would benefit Clemson to find that guy that immediately when the whistle is blown, he hustles his team into a huddle on the court, calms the players, focuses them, and all the rest. Our players just seem to kind of roam and wait on the free throws to be shot or whatever.

These guys don't lack talent and its not like we recruited poor shooters out of high school. Sure we don't have the talent of UNC or Duke but we do have talented guys on the floor and in spurts they have shown that talent. We need confidence and a belief we can win. Right now we don't have that but once it comes I think you will feel differently about these young players.

Don't confuse my comment, i like every player we have because i know basketball. But we don't have the players to win in the system CBB is running. We have the low post presence but not the shooters for him to kick it out to. Our current players would be great in a more athletic up and down run and gun style. Hall's in not a half court guy and there's nothing wrong with that but put him in a situation he can succeed in and don't ask him to be a floor general. There are many different ways to win in basketball and that UNC team we played last night has been adjusted to what they have. Clemson hasn't...but CBB has do what he think is best, and to do that he needs better players.
