Looking at the Auburn running backs

There is no doubt that Kerryon (sp) Johnson and Kamryn Pettway are talented and productive backs. But these stats are interesting... hoping our D-line can stone them.
Games attempts yrds avg TDS Carries Per yards per
Johnson vs. Ranked (AP) 4 62 259 4.18 1 15.50 64.75 vs. Unranked (AP) 8 120 636 5.30 10 15.00 79.50
Pettway vs. Ranked (AP) 4 53 179 3.38 0 13.25 44.75 vs. Unranked (AP) 6 156 1045 6.70 7 26.00 174.17

That's probably true of most running backs.

I wouldn't expect that big of a difference, but a great point.

Ah man, it was much easier to read with spaces in it. Anyway, they have struggled against ranked opponents and done really well against no ranked opponents.

Johnson injured his hamstring in the second quarter this weekend, not many updates I could find for an update.

Ranked teams tend to be better and have better defenses

Plus they have to play Bama every year and that definitely wrecks your rushing stats. Its nearly impossible to run the ball on Bama.

Right. I would expect our defense to continue the trend.

I'm not sure if this has much meaning without context.
Could you do the same analysis with Wayne Gallman last year for comparison?

Wayne actually performed better against Ranked opponents in 2015 ...as far as total yards per game.
vs. Ranked (AP) 5 596 161 6 123 757 6.2 151.4 vs. Unranked (AP) 9 931 52 8 181 983 5.4 109.2

They need to have those huge holes to get rolling. That is not going to be easily available against our D-Line.

No worries .... I'm here
Pettway didn't play in 4 games and still totaled over 1200 yds. 2 of the biggest games he missed were Clemson and UGA ... He came back for Bama, but was only about 80%. Dude is a beast.
I do not expect Kerryon Johnson to play. His pull looked similar to Pettway's last year against Vandy. Kept him out 3 weeks and really shouldn't have played against Bama.
I think win or lose .... you'll think a lot of Pettway when the game is over. I wish he would've played Sat to "Knock the rust off" ... but when you have experience, there shouldn't be that much rust anyway.
So, for the Clemson game:
1. Pettway is a hoss - will play on Sundays 2. (Normally Johnson) Kam Martin - small but fastest guy on the team. Played in every game last year, Had 136 yds Sat after KJ went down. 3. Devan Barrett - True Freshman that I think will take over the #3 spot behind a healthy Johnson. 4. Malik Miller - larger back (not as big as Kam Pettway)
Not to be overlooked is our Fullback #27. Former #1 FB in the country and has lived up to it over the last 2 years.

We won't shut Pettway down completely, but I fully expect us to take the run away for the most part. Try to make Stidham beat us through the air and there is more than enough talent in the secondary to play ball with Auburn, despite what some national pundits seem to think.
