When I was a young Tiger in the Third Grade

I was the best at Simon of any kid under 14 years old in the tri-county region. I would have gone onto state but a thumb injury made playing the game competitively far too difficult. I often wonder what would have happened had I never suffered turf thumb, nationals were in Des Moines Iowa that year which could have opened a lot of doors for me prior to enrolling at Clemson University.
The trick was to play with your ears and not your eyes, they can deceive you.

playing "Star Trek" on rudimentary computers in the Clemson Keypunch Card Center?
That "game was so rudimentary, a first generation Atari "Space Invaders" was probably more advanced.

We had an Atari when they first came out.. I was around 8th or 9th grade....Space Invaders made me laugh the way they marched & the sound effects....Simply incredible the way video games have advanced in forty years but in some cases not for the best

graphics on some of these modern games is on par with the best MOVIE CGI. I can't even imagine all the work that goes into it. No wonder the modern games are so expensive.

Teachers

My 3rd grade teacher was Mrs Anderson. She was mean and ugly. In 1st and 2nd grades my teachers were kind and beautiful
I guess I was lucky the beautiful ones and the ugly one did not abuse me sexually.

I had an ugly 3rd grade teacher too, and with that came a jealousy for my young, flawless skin. This was my personal Vietnam.

true story. as a kid our local kmart had a little caesar’s in it. (before the new crappy revived little caesar’s) anyway, they had a simon game and if you got a high enough score you could win pizza or crazy bread.
every time mom would take me shopping, i’d go in there and win some crazy bread.

Speaking of phenomenal hand-eye coordination, brings back 1979 freshman year and exercising said coordination while sipping a cold Budweiser draft. Many a free game was won. And I just rediscovered the Mata Hari had a Tiger Head as part the theme ... a bonus!

"Breakout" was our only video game console back in 1976 (college sophomore). Spent way too much time playing this back in the day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMUv8KvVt08
