I missed your original post last season so thanks for linking it. DJU was just so awful. It hurts a lot less today than it did last season. And having an OC that somehow thought DJU was good made the play calling particularly troubling. We'd have Shipley rushing for 10 YPC and decide to call a DJU Pick 6 Special.

Yeah I re-posted this because yesterday a poster was saying our offense had nothing to do with the defensive lapses. Same poster laid all the blame on Coach Swinney and his defensive hires, including the position coaches.

I still don’t understand why he hired Goodwin and not a proven veteran DC. Only thing I’ve ever heard is oh he’s a genius and Brent wanted him at OU. Last years defense should have been top 10. They looked like a shell of the defense under BV. What am I missing? Why was Goodwin the right man and not someone that has done it at a Clemson level??

I'm not saying he's the right man, but I'm also not saying he's the wrong man. The sample size is too small and there were a lot contributing factors to the defense being inconsistent. The jury is still out and 2023 will tell us a lot.

I still wonder what qualified WG to not only be a DC, but the Clemson DC. You’d think Dabo could have named whoever he wanted. Yet he chose someone that hasn’t done anything, anywhere. If you or anyone knows please tell me.

Obviously Dabo believed in him. That's basically all you need to know. Can you whine and cry about all day, sure but the fact is Wes is the DC and you're either behind him and this team or you're not. I know you're not a Clemson fan but it amazes me how something that is suppose to bring entertainment and joy like college football ruins the day, night, week, month year of a supposed fan. If that's you, you're taking college football a little too serious.

I like Clemson's Defense more this year than last. Still the same points you make were made of Streeter last year, and Dabo fired him. Jury remains in session. Trust but verify.

I can’t remember which NFL coach it was, but he vouched for Dabo saying it wa a brilliant hire. He said the NFL would be waiting for Goodwin after he had a few seasons under his belt at DC.

It was Bruce Arians. Wes was on his defensive staff for a couple of years with the Arizona Cardinals.

This was Dabo's plan all along. Wes was being groomed to take BV's place. Dabo always has a plan. This is who he wanted all along. He brought Wes along for this moment.

Honestly, DJ made me question Dabo. Either DJ had dirt on someone or Dabo is a lot stupider than he appears. No way DJ should have kept starting job past 2 games. I honestly think DJ had dirt on the program.

Dabo knows what he is doing. He loves Clemson more than any of us. He also got us where we are. If you can’t see that you need to find another team.

It’s a mild version of ptsd, but the DJU years were tough to sit through. Seeing your original post and all the unforced errors in those videos just sent shivers down my spine.
