Just not convinced DJU is QB1 material

Has a 5 star arm and body, and a 2.5 star football IQ and quickness.. so maybe about a 3.8 star overall QB. And that's about what we've seen on the field.
In interviews, he's chill.. I doubt there is a championship determination under that fedora.
Put in TP. The guy deserves a shot. If not, why shouldn't he portal?

The young man. Our offense is a disaster on the whole.
I don’t think he’s even performing up to a 3 star right now. We can’t execute anything.

Fix the OLine and the playcalling then we can revisit that..

assessment. Our offense has LOTS and LOTS of problems. If our OLine can "semi-block" and our play calling can be "semi-unpredictable" then DJ could settle in better, but I'm not going to judge DJ w/o those 2 being fixed/addressed first.

Fix the mental state of a proven and skilled driver of the offense, and everything will improve from there.
The playcalling is fine. It's PAINFULLY obvious we are not executing the called plays well.
It starts with the QB and OL, but the QB is the first priority.
If the first priority gets his head together and plays like he's shown he can in 2020 [67%, 914 yds, 5 TDs and 0 INTs], then everything else, even the OL, will look better.
Somehow, some way, we need the QB to get out of his own head and just let his skills lead the charge. Like he showed in 2020.
I'm not a psychologist, but the bulk of our functional issues are based on a singular mental problem.

The play calling is fine? I am not going to say that we do not need to execute better, but the play calling is not fine. Part of play calling is figuring out what plays we can execute well and putting us in good situations. TE has not done that to this point this year.

Down 28-5 in the 2nd quarter to the #1 team in the nation his senior year in high school with Bryce Young as the opposing QB, DJ rallied his team to a 39-34 win and won the next game to win the CA State and National Championship. He threw for 444 yards and 5 touchdowns in the comeback against the best high school team in the country in 2019.
We also saw what he did against BC and ND when he had time in the pocket to deal. This has certainly been a different year but also a different and new O-line, running backs, and wide receivers. I still put a lot of this on coaching. Different team but still trying to get them to do the same things as last year's much more experienced offense. No new wrinkles and nothing particularly different that would confuse anyone in their preparation against us.
I think they will turn around from a bad start and have a relatively successful year but not playoff-bound. Hopefully, with more experience and a renewed attitude from our coaching staff, we can get back on track in 2022.
TP is not the answer. Strong arm but completely inaccurate. DJ needs the reps and experience. If it doesn't pan out, we have the #1 high school QB coming in and he seems to have the skills and maturity to potentially compete for a starting job. We could see another Kelly Bryant scenario where after the 4th game next year, DJ enters the portal if things have not panned out as planned.

Folks, give the team a chance. No unit of new (players, workers, baby sitters, etc.) work well together initially. This bump in the road will be overcome. Clemson is bless with talent, most of it is young talent. Our team has not played together for 2-3 years. It takes some team longer than others to reach the point where all are comfortable playing together. Go Tigers.

He has had time to deal this year. Problem is he folds and takes a sack after 4 seconds of holding the ball way too much.

We came out of the desert after 31 years that night in Atlanta. Don't want to step backwards.2012 was the turning point in the Peach Bowl.
Our offense this year has not been this bad since 1976. And we beat the coots that year.
Multiple issues: coaching, as well as skill sets of offensive line members and QB are lacking compared to our success in 2020 and prior back to 2012.
Players need to stay out of the media until results improve on the score board and in the W/L column.
Offensive players running their mouth in the media should be embarrassed by their performance so far.

own up to the problems and let's fix it. I don't like the "no issue" stance. Dabo spoke more like I want now. .many years ago when he overhauled everything. So I know he can do it. true, not saying we are in teh same situation we were in then . .but I sure would like to see the same passion about fixing the problem. There obviously is a problem. Just say so.

Just wish DJU5 would quit talking so much. It's time to walk the talk. I just believe his presser after the GA game: three-piece quit, lots of jewelry, fedora and doing personal grooming during the interview speaks more to an NIL problem, and now a production problem. Unfortunately, probably too much hype on him before the season. Hopefully, this weekend DS and TE give TP a couple of series and let DJ get his helmet on the right way. Given him, "Rome wasn't built in a day". But some parts of it were.
