The man died at a fair age of 82, but a decent story about him in my mind. It was that a few months after he lost the election in 2000 I believe, I ran into him at the bar at Washington National in the morning. He drank a coffee and sat next to me. I had an alcohol drink. There didn't seem to be any secret service around him. He was really mellow. He was terrible pick for a VP candidate though.

Lieberman was a solid person. He was the quintessential centrist looking to find common ground.

From people that knew him, he was a true gentleman.

We need more of his kind who could disagree without being disagreeable.
