we cannot continue on this same recruiting path and expect these coaches to be successful. They have to have quality players to coach, play, and win with. They can only develop a player so much. Clogging up our roster by flipping players committed to smaller schools allows Dabo to say they don’t have the room for a more mature portal player who has some experience and some eligibility left. Common sense would dictate that the experienced player comes in more ready to play. Understand that Clemson doesn’t have big NIL dollars, but some of these portal kids just want playing time! If these coaches don’t have what they need from a personnel standpoint they will not be at Clemson very long. Something has got to give in this new environment and quickly. Granted this is more complicated than it seems with our apparent inability to get out of the ACC, but this current model cannot sustain Clemson in the conversation of even a top 12 playoff.

As they would have said on Hogan's Heroes, you know nothing. Our record speaks for itself and looking for the few gems in the Portal is just a futile effort. You can also look at NFL rosters and it will not take you long to realize that they are not filled with only players for the supposed Top 25 programs.

I think most people would agree that our talent level has fallen drastically the last several years, whether you think I know anything or not. Surely you see a need to change that trajectory.

I think he does - my interpretation is that he's saying the current roster isn't comparable to those rosters and that not going after some of the big dogs in the portal, but rather low-level recruits probably isn't going to get us back to those 2016/2018 rosters.

one side of the ball, and falls completely flat on its face when it comes to our Defense, the whole other side, which just wrapped up the season #1 in the land and poised to continue on as such. Odd too that our latest pickups that so many are soiling their undies over recently are on that same defensive side of the ball. It's almost like the common sense and 'obvious' approach many on here like to spin and rant about really doesn't hold a single ounce of water.

Offensively Clemson has downgraded significantly in recruiting. We have tons of 4-5 stars at every position on defense. Not a single 3 star at safety , defensive back, linebacker besides wade woodaz, and defensive tackle/ end. Which is full of 5 stars. What doesn clemson have on offense that’s 4-5 star outside of Shipley and cade? There isn’t much. Where’s the 5 star Jackson carmon, where’s the 5 star Sammy Watkins or 4 star Hopkins or 5 star Huggins , 4 star Mike Williams, or 4-5 star mcloud. Hunter renfrow was a one in a million hidden gem. He was able to be open bc we stretched the field with guys like Higgins and Williams. Writer here is worried about offensive recruiting and he’s not wrong. We are coming up short on a ton of players this class that we normally get. Thankful for what we have but the fact we are last second offering all these mid level d2 talent players tells you all you need to know. Maybe they are gems we will find out in time. I trust Dabo but will it get us back to the playoff doubt it. Clemson’s recruiting rankings the last 3 years have mirrored its success in the playoffs and on the field.

Phil Mafah 4*, Antonio Williams 4*, Jake Birningstool 4*, Adam Randall 4*, Troy Stellato 4*, Bryant Wesco 5* coming in, TJ Moore 4* coming in, etc etc etc
PLENTY of 4* star talent on offense. Matt Luke gotta get the offensive line blocking better and Garrett Riley gotta get better at calling plays that work to our strengths. Also, Riley needs to have cade in the film room studying coverages all off season

Just look at the recruiting prior to 2016.
We need the QB to play great. It all starts there. There are no great teams without great QB play. Those days are pretty much gone. The best teams have QBs who are getting it done. Cade is not there yet, obviously. When he elevates his game, the whole offense will take off.

our WRs from those 2 teams are also sprinkled throughout the NFL. I don't think that's going to be the case from the WRs over the last 3 years.

Tee Higgins was the guy in 2018. They didn’t play together.
Who else from the national championship teams is littered throughout the NFL?
The talent in 2016 was not as good as the overall roster and depth. Obviously the biggest thing we’re lacking is a great QB. If Cade grows like a typical developing QB, then the offense will take off.
Between who we have on the roster and who is coming in, this group has more talent than 2016. This isn’t rocket science.

So you pointed out only deficiencies in offense recruiting for a long spell there then led right into criticizing the two D players we just picked up by level reference. No compute.
Compare our recruiting rankings the last 3 years with this season, the season before, and the season before. Then start with 2014-2018's 3-year class rankings and work forward. You may be surprised at what you find in that mirror.

If we win we could get better recruits.
Money is in the ear of all these big time recruits now. If we lose games we're supposed to win we will get smacked in every phase of sustaining a program.
We have to win....that is the source of our life line of college football relevancy.

Dabo has made the correct decisions. OL was the problem period. CHINA virus messed up the recruiting as well as the NIL. We have one 5*. But look at the high 4*. 4.7 is pretty much a 5*. There are 6/7. Plus high 3* that may have some under the radar talent. By this time next we will be playing for the NC!
Who can replace Dabo? No one! Do you want to be like Georgia or FSU? NO!
