First Downs and the Clock in the Last Two Minutes

Sep 24, 2023, 9:43 AM

I'm an older guy and don't keep up with all changes as close as I used to. So, this is a serious question. I thought that the current rule on the clock is that it continues to run after a first down EXCEPT during the final two minutes of EACH half. Is that correct? If so, then why didn't the clock stop after Ship's ten yard run at the end of the game?

I think the clock operator read our body language and knew we didn’t want to do anything.🤣

No, seriously that’s a good question. I know it happens, but I still find it hard to believe we missed that FG.

Thank you. It didn't seem to stop at all...but in the press of the moment, I might have missed it.
