In cases like this, the HC

should be able to sign a waiver, where he doesn't have to transfer down,in order to avoid sitting out a year.

Good Luck to the young man, where ever he lands.

The NCAA is looking at that rule now and from what I've been reading it has 95% of the coaches wanting to remove the rule about transfers. Maybe by the Fall the NCAA will have that changed so he can compete somewhere for the starting position. Good Luck to Cooper and Go Tigers.

You see where the NCAA is close to changing that rule? Soon players will not have to sit out a year and not limited in where they choose to go.

I have very mixed feelings about this rule change. I can see he positives for the players but also lot of negitives for coaches and smaller programs.

Yes, the new proposed rule

will screw up smaller programs and benefit the bigger programs. My guess is it'll never happen.

Sign the Kids to 4 year athletic scholarships ,to protect the kids from their scholarships being yanked for anything other the what normal scholarship requirements are(Grades, behavior, ect). Then give the HC's the right to sign a waiver for guys that want to transfer.

Can't he transfer to fcs and not have to sit? In sure he has his sights on bigger schools.

Yes he could do that but the chances of him coming back to a BCS school is very slim and thus his chances to go beyond college is reduced tremendously. I think he would like more playing time but also still have a chance to go Pro. He could still go to a Junior College for 1 year and then come back to a BCS program. Unfortunately for him he has already used his redshirt up so if he does go to a BCS program he'll only have 2 years of eligibility left after sitting the year. Go Tigers.
