Trevor is lighting up FSU, but Potter has absolutely sucked at FGs this season. Dabo was totally in the right.

Almost any other coach chewing his butt out would not have been a shock and even an expectation. And it’s not that snowflake BS. DABO has been constantly praised for building up players when they make mistakes y all these guys on tv. It was a side of his personality toward players I’d not seen before on national tv. So what about all the mamas who feel good about sending their baby to such a caring staff from all over the country. It was an ongoing rant that was deserved-but not on national tv. I imagine he has rethought the situation since then. Will it make much difference - probably not? I. Love DABO but I just think it was a bad place to lose it.

" So what about all the mamas who feel good about sending their baby to such a caring staff from all over the country."
Mamas that have sons that have played Pee Wee through HS ball before coming to Clemson aren't the fabled helicopter parents. They know the difference between correcting and abusing.

Dabo has yelled at players before, and he will again. It's part of the building up process to be torn down, and it's something that all coaches do.
PC culture bs is all this is.

of a fan.
And both of these national TV butt chewings were about MENTAL mistakes . . . .
Andy T deciding on his own to try & be above the team.
Potter not being ready to go in & kick when it was clearly a HUGE chance he was going to get called on.
Plus - maybe Potter doesn't practice like he should, or has focus problems in meetings or a TON of other things that we aren't privy to.
There is NO WAY CDS gets on him like that for just missing a field goal or 2.
There is WAY more behind all that.

Four misses in six games is not something that gets you a pass. Dabo spotted that Potter did not have his mind on the business at hand, and schooled him on it. He got encouragement afterward. It's not the first time, and it won't be the last time Dabo corrects someone during a game. He is the coach.

Read somewhere Potter was on the bench with his helmet off not paying attention and was late getting on the field. Coupled with missing that chip shot led to the epic chewing. Dabo also mentioned at the halftime interview that he wasn’t ready. I didn’t like how the commentators harped on it for so long as if they KNEW that Dabo was in the wrong. They backed off after the halftime show, but still they went too far.

Nailed it. Dabo didn't just get on him for the missed field goal, but probably a number of things that had been building up ..... including being ready to go into the game. Even if he had made it, Dabo would have said something at some point about keeping his head in the game.

When Dabo is seen on tv chewing a player. Have never actually been to a game. Those who have will tell you, he ain't this calm, halo wearing, "goodygoody", rahrah dude on that sideline all the time! Dabo does a lot of "fired up" coaching not seen by your tv cameras.
My point? Dabo is a winning coach who is making men who will win games for the Clemson family. If he has to chew that ### then that player did something he wasn't supposed to do.

Dabo had a choice to go for it on 4th down or kick a field goal. FSU had just stopped the Tigers of 4th and goal so he decided on the chip shot field goal. Potter wasnt ready and missed (basically an extra point) the field goal.
Potter absolutely deserved the chewing out and is now 5 for 9 in field goal attempts. Nothing against his kick offs or his ability, he just needs to keep his head in the game and be ready. Look what a missed field goal cost UGA yesterday. At some point, one of Potter's attempts is going to mean a game and he is expected to make it.

I was thinking about his anger at Potter this morning. In the hour before the game we most likely saw Georgia's national title hopes go down the tubes because a kicker didn't make an easy field goal in OT.
Although Potter's kick wasn't to keep our championship hopes alive but it could have been. He sent the message very clearly and came back with some love. He's a good leader and he Potter needed a message.

Look back at the few times he had publicly gotten on players. They always have rebounded and followed up a bad miscue with something good down the road. Teasdall, for example.

Christian Wilkins struck a Heisman pose and was immediately chewed out. Still loves Dabo and is and was a better player for it. You aren’t a “STAR” in Dabo’s eyes, you’re closer to a son.

That wasn't about a missed FG. That was more about the attitude and readiness of our kicker. My guess is that problem has been addressed prior to Saturday....

Agreed. The lesson was reinforced when Sawicki was ready and hit his chip shot FG in garbage time.
