Whats your honest prediction

For basketball this year?

Off to a very good start. This part of the season has been our weakness. I hope they continue to roll with tough games like Alabama on the road and Memphis coming up. South Carolina is also 5-0, but who knows with them.

Watching teams like Kansas and Purdue, Clemson may be able to get to a level just beneath them this year in terms of performance level and postseason success.

Although Clemson gets deeper and deeper with talent every year, they are still trying to climb in recruiting and overall success, Judge K.

So, I can honestly see a similar season to 2016 with the big men we have and some very good shooters like Girard, comparing to Gabe Devoe. But, the overall type of talent on our team is not the same as top teams. Therefore, team chemistry must play a factor. And so far, it looks great. Boise State is definitely a good team, so that was a good look.

I think this team can compete very well against upper tier teams, but could face a road block in the postseason against the elite.

That said, crazy things happen every year in the postseason.

I think we will know more after the next four. With Alcorn St being 1-3 and quad 4, Clemson should dispose of them like Winthrop.

Alabama follows and a game on the road against a Q1 opponent should give us our first big test. A win here or a close game, wire to wire would set up a big first conf game.

Wins against Pitt and uscjr would have the Tigers in the top 25, with or without a loss to Alabama.

3-1 or better over the next 4 and Clemson goes 24-7

2-2, Clemson ends up 20-11

1-3 and we end up 17-14

This is the right take. I doubt we beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa, but it’s definitely possible. However, if we keep it close with them at their place, that’s a great sign. If we win…then look TF out, here we come!

Lads needed a few games to get warmed up ... Alabama is over-rated ... yes good, for the SEC. Memphis ? Undisciplined.

Lads just need to focus and play like they played against Boise State and they will be fine.

The great thing is we don’t have to rely on opinions or predictions. We can relax and enjoy the season. If the season turns out poorly(unlike last year when we won 23 games) there will be plenty of time to complain in the off season. I have also found that if an optional activity no longer brings pleasure or adds value to my life, I step away from it. This is a better option than the constant whining making yourself and others miserable.

I don’t make predictions. I have hope for a great season. Just like football, I hope we win every game. And I don’t stop hoping until the game is over. I find hope to be a lot better than expectations.

Just like in all sports, on any given day, any team can beat any other team. We look like we will be a heavy 3 point team and if those shots fall, we have a chance to be good but there will be head scratching games that we will lose because the shots don't fall. Honest prediction, 4-6 in the ACC but it will tough to grab a Top 4.

put more emphasis on developing the two very good big men we have inside, we will flourish. Just as a running game opens up a passing game in football, a good INSIDE game opens up the outside game in basketball. It has been that way all the way back BEFORE there was such a thing as a three point shot.

In 2016 we basically lived and died by the 3. Made the Sweet 16, and the run was MOSTLY driven by 3 PT shooting from Devoe, Reed, Mitchell, and others. But on that team we also had Elijah Thomas.

I see Brad Brownell as such a similar coach to Matt Painter (Purdue).

3-Point Shooting Emphasis: Both coaches tend to prioritize the three-point shot as a significant part of their offensive schemes. Their teams often look to space the floor and take advantage of outside shooting opportunities.
Utilization of Big Centers: They have historically utilized big centers effectively in their offensive sets. These players often serve as focal points in the post, both for scoring and facilitating offense through high-low plays or passing from the interior.
Versatility in Offense: They both encourage versatility in their offensive schemes, allowing players at various positions to contribute offensively. This includes perimeter-oriented big men who can stretch the floor with their shooting.

If Brad has a team of players that got these particular roles, he will do his best work. Just in the very recent years, I do not think our size has really been big enough. But now we’ve got some stronger and bigger big men.

The Sweet 16 year was 2017-2018, not 2016.

We still were living or dying by the 3 in 2016, though.

It appears to me that with Brownell as the coach AGAIN, they are “doing the same thing”.

I expect the “same results”.

I'll keep playing this broken record. We are in the ACC. If we got a 5 star recruit it would be because the blue-chip programs already had all they wanted. We are at Chick-Fil-A and they are at Bone's Steakhouse. If we beat them or finish close to them, we have overachieved. Last year's position in the standings was great. We got "out traditioned" for the big dance. That letdown probably affected the NIT game but shouldn't have. We look better on paper than last year. We'll see.

4th in conference. 24-32 range. Will get bounced in first game of ACC tournament and get a 10 seed. Win first found and lose in next. Brownell will be kept another year and we will sound like our feathered friends, “wait til next year”!
