SEC has been the top conference for 50+ years, long before anyone even heard of ESPN.

Hardly.........and I'd bet that, without googling, you couldn't name the members of the Southeast conference 50 years ago

If it wasn't anyone but Alabama, they have most other conferences backed off. Add to them UGA, GT, LSU, OLE MISS (yes OLE MISS was a power back then), TENN, Auburn. Who was better?

I could name Michigan, Michigan St, Ohio St, Illinois in the Big 10
Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Nebraska, Texas A&M, SMU in the SW conference which more often than not was better than the SEC as an entire conference....
But after investigating, you forgot Tulane in the SEC as well--they didn't leave until 64 or 65.......and Ole Miss occasionally had decent teams, but they were never remotely a consistent power.
All those conferences had teams that generally filled out the bottom the half of their respective leagues just as the SEC did.....

Are you guys like 22 or something?? The SEC has had a lot of good teams in the past 50 years--- A LOT OF GOOD TEAMS. But they've not been the best conference every year by any means.

there is no doubt that ESPN helps them every way they can.
If a recruit looked @ ESPNs website, they would get the idea
it would be foolish to commit to a school outside of the SEC, USC or ND
To ESPN no other schools matter
But I quit caring what they had to say when they convinced everyone
Tommy Bowden was THE next bigtime coach. HaHa!
I treat them like I do NBC and will only switch to that channel when the game has already started, so not to listen to their BS or the commercials that pay for their BS
