Wont have to break the bank to get them, they know the ACC, and learned from one of the best.

How is that being pumpers? The Clemson job is better than UCF and maybe similar to ASU? Either way, Brad we pay significantly more than UCF and more than ASU pay those guys.

With UCLA and Arizona being down, ASU has a chance to establish themselves as a top of the PAC 12 program for the next few years.

I highly doubt we can get Bobby Hurley from ASU. They are looking good and will probably go to the tournament. He makes 2.1 million and will get a bonus for going to the tournament. I realize Brad makes 2.5 million, but I think ASU would definitely give Hurley a raise. They turned the corner with Hurley.

Granted there is nothing wrong about Arizona, but his roots are here. Worth a shot.

Johnny Dawkins might though. He is at UCF and he might see us as a slight upgrade. He is only making 1.1 million when I looked it up. He also has them going to the tournament probably this year. He has turned them around. Brad makes 1.4 million more than Dawkins.

In spite of what some say, "who would we get

better than Brad," there are always coaches who would want an ACC gig. My first calls would be Thad Motta and Steve Alford. Proven recruiters and winners, especially Motta. Both out of coaching. It's taking the same route Miss St did with Howland, Tenn with Barnes, Georgia with Crean. It's a route we've never tried. Get a guy with some clout to try to finally put down a sustainable foundation. And we have facilities now they can recruit to.
And maybe the most important thing, they'll work the AAU circuit. It's a slimy area, but you absolutely have to go there in hoops. It's the nature of the beast

Steve Alford? If you can't win at a program with the resources UCLA has, what makes you think he can win here?

I appreciate he would not be some mid-major project.

Steve Alford wound be a great hire. He had one bad start to the season with a lot of injuries. If you don't go the Final Four every year at UCLA they will barrier you there. The job there is way to pressurized. Alford also won at New Mexico, Iowa, Missori State. Motta would be a real good hire too. Just Two suppar years at Ohio State, but took them to the Final Four. Shoot, Johnny Dawkins is good. Only had two b Supbar years at Stanford and has a good team that can advance in the NCAAT at Central Florida now.

hiring an established Power 5 coach. Both these guys just happen to be out of coaching. It would probably cost more money, but this type hire would be the chance to show we're really serious about basketball

I would take Jon Scheyer too. Although, he may be the one who replaces Coach K one day.

I said Scheyer because he was named associate head coach at Duke. Yeah, but I don't get their labels anyway. As far as Wojo, he is really turning Marquette around. It took a bit, but he has them at 21-4 this year. When he came in they went 13-19 his first year. That's probably what it would be like for anyone who comes to Clemson next year. It will take a couple years at the least.

Shatter is the heir apparent. When Wojo left, he became the number two. I’ve hated many Duke players over 4+ decades but none as much as Greg Paulus or Mike Dunleavy. Just arrogant goobers...

You might just have to be happy with anybody we can get. Right now this program doesn't have a lot of options if Brad doesn't come back next season.

fans here at Clemson would turn on Hurley quickly
Feb 20, 2019, 11:28 AM

He is a hot head and a jerk while coaching. His teams have talent but do not play smart at all. They are widely inconsistent (like beating Kansas yet getting blown out by Washington State) and again he has ASU squarely on the bubble. I understand ASU isn't historically a basketball school but wouldn't that mean he would do similarly at Clemson?

ASU is 17-8 with 5 games left. I think they make the tournament.
Can he recruit?
