I expect a high-scoring affair Thursday night. Thanks.

Unlike previous years, I think we've got a defense that

is capable of defending the offense. We've been good against the run this season and have not just a good DL but the best LBs we have in a while.
I also don't think this GT offense is as good as they've been in the past, although their defense is probably better.

I think this year's GT defense may not be much better

since after all they gave up over 350 yards to Marshall and almost 400 to UNC. The bigger question for us is not HOW MANY yards we will be able to cover, but how productive we can be especially in the red zone.
I agree that our defense is better against the run this year. If you exclude the one busted coverage long play for Gurley, we held UGA and Gurley to some low numbers, for example. (40 runs and about 150 yards without that one long run). But how will our line deal with nasty chop blocking and how will our strategy to handle the GT versus of trip option work? That is the key.
And for all they hype I read about Vad Lee, he isn't all that good. So their offense may not be even as potent as last year like you say.

Well here is a Tech perspective. First, we didn't play Marshall, but we have given up some yards to several teams we shouldn't have. Our first 3 games saw slowly rising levels of competition. Then came a skid of 3 games to decent, not good, ...decent teams. Game seven began a noticeable improvement, particularly defensively. Defensive line became pretty effective against the run. Aggressiveness was obvious. Tackling better. In retrospect I feel pretty good about the quality of some of our opponents that I kind of dismissed earlier (mainly Pitt and Syracuse). I think our biggest weakness is defending the intermediate pass over the middle and on the edges. Special teams are an asset rather than liability like last few years. Pass rush has improved but Taj is scary. I think we have a chance but not ready to predict a W. I'm not a Clemson hater. I want to win but can't help but like your school, team and coach. And, I think you have about the best stadium in the country. As to Vad: He has really good athleticism, great arm but has been tentative. His numbers don't recognize way too many dropped balls that were thrown on the money.

Good point - I think I had BYU on my mind and VT playing

Marshall earlier in the season. No stats - just memory in front of me. Dangerous.... But BYU still managed over 400 I think.
I've watched a few portions of games and Vad Lee does have a strong arm. He just doesn't seem decisive (as you say) and was pretty erratic in what I saw. Overthrows were pretty common, for example. Maybe his arm strength is a detriment....

Or willful "misstatements" which seem to be all the rage these days...

Ga. Tech defensive scouting report.

The Bees are 64th in pass defense, but 10th in rush defense, and 12th in total defense. I say use the pass to set up the run. Also, Tech is only completing about 7 passes per game. I'm sure they will try to get the safeties to cheat up and then spring a long one over the top. The key to this game seems to be getting a big lead early and force Tech to play catch-up.

We've got the VT/GT game to see some strategy on how

to slow their rush overall and take some steam from Godhigh. I think Miami did a pretty good job of slowing Godhigh with the exception of one 10 yard run, too.

VT got in our linemen's heads, anticipating the snap, Jumping the snap count. They are so used to going on the same count, are preached to about speed off the ball, that they got badly rattled and false started on numerous plays. VT's excecellent DT disrupted quite a bit over the lower depth chart guy who was having to play. Tech's key is the same as always. Execute and the offense can go.
