Pretty big recruit from a big Metro-ATL high school (Lassiter) and his college experience was mop up duty until he took over for an injured Aaron Murray for the GT game and the Bowl game. Reminds me of our situation with Stoudt in the since that he could've started at a lot of schools, but he was stuck behind Murray, like how Stoudt was with Tajh.

Agree this will be an interesting battle between two experienced, but non-starter QB's. Both are talented with out a doubt. Stoudt has put up great numbers in his duty. I put less on the fact it was mop up (because odds are he didn't have starting OL, RBs and WRs to work with). Fact is ... he put up the numbers.
Mason had less playing time up until Murray's injury. It was the best thing for experience getting to start two games. I think he managed the games well. Yes, he had to come from behind with GT, but come back he did ... No way I put the bowl game on his shoulders ... it is probably one of the less motived I have seen Georgia play ... and I have been watching since 1972.
Both being so experienced makes what they did in HS not as important. Stoudt had a better HS career than Mason, but was not a scrub.
The keys to their success come August ...
Stoudt has a green secondary to go against, but don't discount Georgia's LB corp that can mitigate some of that weakness. Bottom line, if he has the time Stoudt will have more than his share of long passing plays.
Mason has a stable of some of the best running back(s) in the country. This will make the OL and LB corp from CU to play a bit more honest, but when they decide to come ... come they will. They are that strong. Even injuries would not effect Georgia as they did last year. Problem is the Chubb and Michel will not have blocking down early in the season that is so important with our style of offense.
I looking for this being a fast paced game. Clemson has proven itself with the hurry up ... Georgia (like most other teams) will be picking up the pace. The reason I (IMO) think this is because there is not much the defense can do to slow down a fast moving offense on a consistent basis. The only thing a team can do ... is pick it up themselves. We'll see how that works out.
Just like last year ... a toss up.

Best thing to stop a fast paced offense, or any offense for that matter, is negative plays and winning on 3rd down.
Too bad Clemson sucked at that with this defense last year.

Stoudt is a much more effective contributor that their guy, but I hope they play him, put confidence in him and continue with him until after they play us. I do hope they fix it before they play the coots, though.

I remember him from HS

he was graduating right around when I was in HS in Ga
Record setting career at Lassiter (Marietta) that saw him break single season record for passing yards in a season in Ga. No major college offers until UGA offered him late in the cycle

He certainly is no Watson. And Watson owns all Georgia passing records. By a long shot.

Hutson averaged 350 ypg passing and completed 70% of his attempts his senior year. He had 54 TDs and 10 ints.

Mason threw for 4,560 yards his senior season, which is a record that still stands today. Watson's highest passing yardage total came in 2012, when he threw for 4,011 yards
That being said, Mason was a product of his HS system that had no major offers until UGA basically gave him a pity offer due to pressure from the AJC and the fact that he had just set the single-season passing record. Watson is a stud, simply put, who is on a whole different level

How many state championships did Watson win? Stats are meaningless....would rather have a QB that can lead his team to the hardware.

He doesn't play in the secondary. Mason threw for 300+ yards and was a dropped pass away from winning his 2nd come from behinder in a row....despite how bad our defense was.

So if a team wins, you credit the QB for "leading his team

to the hardware."
But when the team loses, you don't blame the QB, especially if he plays well?

Hey Superdawg, is Cole Stoudt making his first start this year? Can you tell me more about that?
Also, I think Clemson is missing some lineman for this game. Do you think that affects our depth?
Also, I heard the game was on the road. Tell us more about this "between the hedges."
I hope to be intrigued by all your refreshing insights. TIA.

You do realize the hedges are privet, right. Could be a huge uga advantage.

"Some species produce a fruit, which is mildly toxic to humans.[6][9] Symptoms from eating privet fruit include nausea, headache, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, low blood pressure, and low body temperature.[6] In large amounts, the odor produced from privet’s flowers can cause respiratory irritation and its pollen can cause an allergic reaction.[6]"

What happens if there's a pass interference in the endzone and one of our players falls face first into the hedges and accidentally eats some? I'm worried about this.
