I never do this, but I actually hope Conner Shaw does well

in his start with Cleveland. He is the only gamecock that has earned my respect since Ryan Brewer did years ago (yes - it has been a while). But I spoke harshly about Shaw when he first came on the scene as he couldn't hit the ocean from a boat, and would typically pull it down to run. Well he got better and better and finally became an extremely proficient QB, often having to pull Spurrier's butt out of the fire while playing hurt. So yes - he has earned my respect and I hope he does well. Manziel had better be prepared to not get the nod next year though. Now that would be a hoot.
Anyway - I apologize to those who can't respect any gamecocks, as I am typically one of those guys, but this guy gets a pass IMO.

Players come along from time to time that you pull for no matter who they play for...primarily because their contribution to the great game of football comes with class. Shaw is one of those players, and Lattimore quickly comes to mind as well.
BTW, Merry Christmas to all.

Ryan Brewer said the PAW looked like a flower , and that our stadium smelled like a cow pasture. Gonna have to take my name off the " I'm a Ryan Brewer fan " list. Shaw is a Coot . I don't hate him , but being a Steeler fan I cannot ever like a Brown...so it's just gonna be a " meh " there too.

and abandoned play schemes they didnt understand. Those that play within the system and stick to it till the end often don't look as good because they follow the plan out of coach respect and fear of retribution. So shaws lack of respect for Spurrier backyard antics worked well for him Because Spurrier needed him and would never punish him for that

Y'all can go ahead respect this butthead all you want, but like someone said earlier, his helmet signing of a CLEMSON helmet puts him in my a-hole coot pile and I hope he tanks like every other coot. Suppose y'all respect Taneyhill for stomping on the paw at midfield. Yes, to me, who he plays for matters.

last year will respect just how much he worked to keep his commitment to his fans. It was clear he was hurting badly but he demanded of his body and forced it to play through the pain.
Every now and then even a fan base as blind as the gamecoots find a diamond.
I'm not much for his fans, past coach or his school of choice but he's a heck of a man. He was all in.

As much as I pull against SCU he was a game changer. He elevated his game above his physical abilities and simply willed his team to win. His heart and the Clowns raw atheletic ability, despite the polar opposite of Shaw on the intangible attributes, is what led to their glory days. That combination is gone and was a stars aligning event.
Now the rivalry returns to normal ...won't mind seeing Shaw have success...and the Clown will probablty fade away.

There have been times over the years when I have cheered on such young men, regardless of past affiliations.
This is another...for both Connor and Tajh.
