I hope our Defense is stout next year. Even without

Jan 9, 2014, 2:24 PM

Vic (he could stay), I read this could be one of our best defenses in Dabo's tenure (the 2010 defense was pretty darn good). I think we'll have a learning curve on offense, but look what Morris did in his first year with Tajh who was inexperienced and struggling with Morris' scheme at first.

Thoughts?

I believe we will be fine on both sides of the ball. We will miss Boyd's leadership, but others have great skills, too, and we will miss Sammy, but we have many great receivers who just need to step up and play to their abilities. I think folks on here will be very surprised at how we do next year.

I won't. I'm expecting great things for next year.***

Yeah I think it might be one of the best in the acc if not the country also. There should be enough coming back to be stout. I am really looking forward to the play at defensive back and linebacker those will help an already explosive line. Let's just hope the defense can score as many points as the offense. Go Tigers

Our 2010 Defense was not "pretty darn good".

It was "pretty darn inconsistent". We gave up more than 20 points in 6 games (including PC), and more than 30 in 3 (including South Florida), and 29 to SC. There were a run of great defensive games but the D was very inconsistent.

but wasn't that because our offense was so putrid. Theyhad

to stay on the field a lot as I recall, and started to break down a little as the losses started.

and I thought to myself, they may as well go ahead and prevent an injury and punt the ball. A few yards seemed like a mile...

The problem with our defense is that the offense is only on the field for a few minutes. In order for our defense to truly be dominant, we have to have depth at every position without much drop off of talent. It's too easy for one guy to get gassed when they have to be on the field so much. And let's be honest, the Chad is not slowing down any time soon. That said, I believe we will have solid depth on defense this year. The only place I think we are truly lacking depth is defensive end.
