I get that Louisvill and Clemson each have one loss

and that Louisville's is a "better" loss than Clemson's, but why is it ok to ignore the quality of their respective wins in discussing their resumes for the CFP?

I think better wins mean a little more to the committee than a better loss.

if Quick had made that first down, would Loserville be #1?

If only that first down marker had been in the right place, undefeated Loserville would have some great wins on their resume, and they demolished FSWho.

Lol...no, they follow their protocol.
Proof: - Who had a higher SOS, CU or UofL? - Who won the head to head? - Do the teams have an equal record? - Has UofL played Pitt for a comparison of outcomes of same opponent? - Who has the better wins? - Did CU and UofL have the same outcomes against the same opponents they BOTH played, WITHOUT giving ANY incentive for margin of victory?

I'll help you with the answers, that tell why they chose how they did...This IS their protocol. - Who had a higher SOS, CU or UofL? Clemson had and still has the higher SOS. - Who won the head to head? Clemson - Do the teams have an equal record? Yes, both are 7-1. - Has UofL played Pitt for a comparison of outcomes of same opponent? No, so you can only compare record, since UofL's loss is also the head to head which is a Clemson advantage for the winner, not a UofL advantage. - Who has the better wins? Clemson...3 top 25, Louisville...1 top 25 - Did CU and UofL have the same outcomes against the same opponents they BOTH played, WITHOUT giving ANY incentive for margin of victory? Yes, they both beat the same opponents playing, margin of victory is not factored in by the committee when comparing the common opponents. This would have been a factor for Louisville only IF they played Pitt this year.

head to head. It was settled on the field. That takes the argument out of it.

Lousville would have an argument if their better loss was to anyone else.
THEY LOST TO THE TEAM THAT LOST TO AN UNRANKED TEAM!

Exactly . . . that argument is a superficial analysis . . .

Sure the comparisons of loss matters . . . but it's only one factor. The entire resume matters, and frankly, Louisville has only two favorable points of comparison compared to us. The way they beatdown FSU, and the fact that their loss is better than ours.
But of course, our overall resume is better, and the head-to-head is frankly such a huge factor that it almost answers the question by itself. It's much more weighty than the comparative analysis of the one loss on each side, which makes up 1/10 of each team's resume.
They just love Lamar Jackson, wanna see him play some big dogs, and are pushing the idea that the team with the inferior resume that lost the head-to-head ought to get a pass.

They don't have"the way they beat down FSU" as long as the committee doesn't stray from their own rules.
Outcomes of games between common opponents WITHOUT inventive of margin of victory. That means....Clemson = win, Louisville = win....doesn't matter how many each scored. What would have mattered is if they played Pitt and won while we lost. ..but they don't play Pitt this year. That hurts them.

Ask yourself why is Clemson heading to ACCCG and Louisville staying home if we both end up with one loss. If better loss was the factor, then Louisville would be going. Yet that's not even considered because head to head is the overriding factor as settled by decades of precedent.
