Honest Buckeye Perspective of Clemson

Dec 27, 2020, 12:25 PM

Hello all- I started reading this blog a couple days ago just to see what the other side was saying about this game.... A couple things have been said over and over in a negative light of OSU so I thought I would share my thoughts....
1. Certainly myself and a lot of buckeyes who know college football have the utmost respect for Clemson but....
A. Clemson has been a recent phenomenon in the college game meaning...When I was a kid growing up in the 90s we never thought one bit about Clemson other than maybe that they had cool helmets. I find it funny that for some reason a lot of you here act like Clemson has always been this dominant. That is just not true.
B. The fact that you call OSU whiners.... this is also interesting to me. Somehow I am reading that if certain calls don’t go your way that you (Clemson fans) would not talk about it....somehow you are above that. Yet, when discussing our national championships you are quick to bring up the 2002 Miami game and the call at the end of the day that went in our favor allowing us to win the NC. (One I actually believe was the wrong call, despite being an alum). Again I thought you were above that?
C. Dabo Sweeney- most people in college football cannot stand him....why? For the most part it is because he wins and I respect that. Great coach! What rubs a lot of us the wrong way is when he opens his mouth.... He is the one that is whiny. Earlier this year he said that if the big ten champ gets in, he was fine with that because it is just a crazy year. Now he is using this platform to say he does not believe they should be in. Why the change of heart....it is just whiny rhetoric which drives us all nuts. I am not saying he does not have a right to give opinion or that he is not wrong but drives the rest of us nuts.
C. Bonus- Kirk Herbstreit god love him

Kirk Herbstreit is obsessed with certain coaches.. his love affair of Venables also is just so annoying. Count how many times he says his name during our game. Again, not necessarily a Clemson thing but just becoming annoying. Could be a drinking game!

In any case certainly hope it is a great game. I am not sure how we win only playing 6 games, not having those game reps for a young team but to great programs going at it again....can’t wait. Go Bucks! I certainly respect Clemson also!

The big 10 and especially Ohio State/Michigan are still living back in the 1930's/40'.Prior to 2002,your last AP national championship was 1968,then 1954,then 1942.That's 60 years total w/o,and you somehow consider yourselves perennially relevant. You're as pathetic as the leghumpers from Georgia. What you are really is a media created myth bolstered by the big 10's longtime monopoly of the Rose Bowl.

Can we agree there is a number of games that is too few to be considered for the playoff?

Certainly 0 is too few.
1,2,3,4 likewise, would you not agree?

So there is a number that is too few, I think the entire country could agree on that. Dabo’s number is lower than the average OSU fan’s number from everything I see. He is not being “disrespectful”. He is being honest with what he believes. He has no “hate” for OSU despite what OSU fans think.

The only hate I see is the hate being directed towards him and Clemson from the Buckeye nation.

I can't recall any other losing coach that has spent a year with excuses of "we should have won", rather than congratulate the winning opponent and just moving on. The real whiner here is your guy !

Yeah maybe Dabo had a change of heart although I

Dec 27, 2020, 12:29 PM

wouldn’t call it the same kind of change of heart the BIG had on championship game and COVID requirements. What is that all about?

The big ten leaders botched this thing from the beginning....they called the season, then started late, then put in arbitrary rules that were not evidenced based. No other conference had those dumb rules. Not the kids fault at all. Fact is OSU is the best team
In the conference and everyone knows it. If there was evidence behind the 21 day rule (which there is not) or the 6 game rule (just made up) then maybe the country has an argument.... just people hating us like they hate you.

You are so correct. So, so correct. A team that’s played 6 games is totally deserving of a shot at a national championship. I mean a 2 win team in Columbia, SC (that the uber relevant OSU is 0-2 against, btw) actually got a bowl bid this year. Evidently, 2020 is the year of participation trophies for certain teams, so congrats on yours. The best part is, Clemson pretty much has a first round bye to the national championship since drawing OSU. Trevor Lawrence is going to completely shred your secondary, and Travis Etienne will clean up with 100+ on the ground. Your offense will move the ball on Clemson’s defense some, but not enough to keep up. Look for another showing like the last Clemson/Notre Dame game. You can say what you want, but I’ll save this post and look for you after the game. If you’re anything like most OSU fans that have been on TigerNet before games, you’ll be a ghost.

Dec 27, 2020, 12:50 PM [ in reply to Yeah maybe Dabo had a change of heart although I ]

Who got through nine regular season games earned their spot. And he’s right. But he thinks a Big Ten champ who got through a five game regular season did not earn a spot. And he’s right there also.

This poster is just the latest in the slow trickle of Buckeyes who cannot tolerate that a fan base of a team that has never lost to them, hailing from a state where no team has ever lost to them, doesn’t bow to their claimed championships from Nineteen Fifty-No-One-Cares.

Second, I think this is the same gomer, different user that keeps showing up. That or they all share the same tiny brain.
