been elected?
I would say no, but I am interested to hear comments on the economy, immigration, foreign policy, the SCOTUS, etc had the vote gone differently in 2016.

Tough to say.

I think the economy would be similar, but less volatile under Hillary. Trump's tariff's will make things sketchy for a bit. That said, maybe in the long haul it will all end up alright. Hard to say if he is doing the right things with his tariffs or not. Immigration wouldn't have been as big of an issue under Hillary. I think a lot of the issue is just hype by Trump to get his base going. The Supreme Court choices under Hillary would have been liberal obviously. Foreign policy is a pretty broad issue, but under Hillary we would get along with our allies better.

It is things like this that convince me that trump is an incompetent moron. Of course we run trade deficits, we are the wealthiest consumer economy in the world and consume more resources than any other developed nation. I mean under what scenario do you see china or mexico buying more of our goods than we do theirs, let alone tiny countries in the EU? The entire world must stand in awe of how dumb Americans are to buy into his nonsense.

Hillary being elected would have just perpetuated the political status quo that everyone is so sick of.
I didn't think either candidate was a good choice.
Both are bad but for different reasons.
Next time I'm voting for Tigerbalm1 for Prez. :-0

Of course. We wouldn't be living through a series of WH-created crises, our status on the would stage would have been maintained, we wouldn't be losing money to an unnecessary tax cut, we wouldn't have a President creating policies with the intention of hurting America, and we'd have decorum coming from the President.
As bad a candidate as Hillary was, her time at State showed she was a decent administrator.
The biggest problem we'd have is the 14 congressional investigations into fabricated and overblown nonsense.

My paycheck went up a dollar.
I'd gladly give up that dollar to prevent an economic downturn.

Not sure why I have to repeat this, but I'd gladly give my dollar back. Since I understand basic math, I'm more concerned with the rich paying their billions.

If you feel it's going to help, pay more in taxes. Anybody advocating against the tax cut shouldn't take it, get out your checkbook and figure how much more you feel you need to pay big dawg. The rich are paying their billions, don't you worry.

this is one of the stupidest arguments to keep rearing its head in here. To suggest we can balance our deficits using the honor system is asinine.

to take that as a literal "we", especially when they are complaining about it.

under that same logic, GOPers are no longer allowed to whine about our debt. It is not a policy issue, just that the middle class is not willingly paying its fair share.

If you have evidence of wrongdoing by any member of the Trump campaign, present it to the #### grand jury. If you have evidence that this president acted inappropriately, present it to the American people. Whatever you got, finish it the hell up, because this country is being torn apart.

America? Probably not much different. I think the GOP would have been better off. They would have Hillary gridlocked and would be starting down an easy win this November and in 2020 with a real candidate. Trump is going to do some serious, permanent damage to them.

The GOP is dead and as liberal as ever. The left keeps going left and is forcing the GOP to go with them. As extreme as the left gets, the traditional republican party has to go more moderate. I am fully behind the dismantling of establishment RINO's like McCain, Ryan and Graham

Well, perhaps you'll get your wish, but I don't think you're going to like the ultimate fall out from Trump. This nation is going to turn a deep shade of blue for years after him, for better or worse. He was a colossal, short-sighted mistake by the GOP.

They said that was going to happen when (not if) Hillary won. I'll take my chances. With Trump now having TWO SCOTUS picks, I am not worried about the future of conservatives and the new Republican Party for at least another 30 years.

Very little of what is decided in this nation goes to the SCOTUS.
And their decisions won't help conservative numbers.
Also, still foolish to think Trump is on the side of conservatism. Why do you people believe this?

Economy- I was a firm believer in whomever won after Obama would inherit the best economy in years and they would get the benefits that came with it. That seems to be the case (although there are some concerns brewing). A Hillary economy would probably be like what Obama's was only better. It would be consistent growth and predictable. With Trump we might see higher gains, at least in the short-term with the tax cuts, but long-term we will see volatility and ultimately a recession built on the backs of the tax cuts, tariffs, and trade wars (as well as cutting in consumer protection regulations).
Immigration- People forget how tough Obama was on immigration. It was one of the issues the far left didn't like about him. Illegal immigration had either stabilized or gone down under Obama. There is no crisis and we certainly wouldn't be separating families under Hillary or calling other countries #### holes.
Foreign Policy- We would still have the post-WW2 alliances that helped build us into the superpower we are today under Hillary. I guess you can say we still have that, for now, with Trump but for whatever reasons he seems hell bent on breaking up the alliances. North Korea was going to be Trump's "Golden Ticket," it seemed like a miracle that was going to win Trump a Nobel Prize which is why he leaned so far into taking the meetings with Un. It could still work out for Trump, but it's looking more and more like Un played Trump like many predicted. (Trade wars/tariffs can go in this category too)
SCOTUS- Obama's pick was a moderate for the courts, he was supported by pubs (until Obama officially picked him then they strangely stopped supporting the pick) but I have no idea who Hillary would have picked, but I'm sure they would be left of whomever Trump is going to pick.
MISC- Hillary's campaign would not be under investigation for Russian collusion, (but the Republicans would put her under investigation for something), Hillary wouldn't attack the media, Republicans would still consider themselves the "law and order" party and dept of Justice, FBI, CIA wouldn't be attacked or considered the "deep state."

My favorite Hillary quotes.
"It's a he** of a thing, killin' a man. You take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have." Hillary Clinton Chappaqua, NY 2004
"I've killed women and children. I've killed everything that walks or crawls at one time or another. And I'm here to kill you, Vince Foster, for what you done to Ned." Hillary Clinton, Potomac River, 1993.

In some ways yes, but in most ways no.

The US would have done more to protect its traditional alliances and done more to preserve the massive international advantages we had built for ourselves. And the world would not think we are as absolutely insane as they do now. We are rapidly pushing the rest of the world to want to contribute to the degradation of our leadership role. We had been a clear choice for increasing global stability. Trump has single-handedly threatened that. Most of the world is waiting on his replacement to begin repairing the damage.
But more importantly, our economy, AT THIS POINT, would be worse under Hillary or Bernie. Identity politics (a poison enervating us from the inside) would be even worse.
There is a chance though, now that Trump has been completely hijacked by the Military Industrial Complex establishment, that things end up worse under Trump. His spending is just as disgusting as democrats. And Trump is nearly as big of a threat to our Constitution as Hillary. Arguably just as bad or worse. He's obviously a wannabe despot, but at least he's not a socialist.
It really is two awful choices. Militarist, politically-correct, Socialism vs Militarist, chaotic nativism.
Now that Bolton and Pompeo are running the show with foreign policy, we really do have two delusional war pigs who are desperate for a war with Iran. It's much worse than the Bush II neo-con obsession over Iraq. MUCH. Pushing for war with Iran is insane. Our behavior overseas can absolutely wreck our economy.
