Fuller to Butler VS Watson to Renfrow

Will Renfrow's TD catch in the National Championship game replace "The Catch" as the most famous catch in Clemson history?
That may or may not be an easy question to answer.

Fuller-to-Butler will always be "The Catch." You can argue which is more important, dramatic, significant, etc. but there is no need to erase or rewrite history. Both will always be significant plays in Clemson history as will the Dantzler-to-Gardner pass and the Tajh-to-Nuk pass. All are etched forever in Clemson lore as they should be They are the Mount Rushmore of great Clemson passes. Let them always share that stage together in harmony rather than competing with each other for first place. I know that I appreciate each for the great joy it gave us fans. They are like children, you can't choose a favorite. I'm just looking forward to seeing the next great pass added to our Mount Rushmore of great passes. Can't wait to see what Dabo and the boys do next. Go Tigers.

Fuller to Butler pass happened. She jumped up in the air when the pass was completed and we had our second child when she hit the floor. So I vote Fuller to Butler.

Mine was also but without the drama at the end. I was at the game and son born on Monday. With no cell phones, that was quite risky and I got to see the end of the game. That catch wasn't last second if you remember.Butler catch was the best but not the most important. Renfrow catch was breadbasket.

in 2000 because we lose that game if the catch isn't made. We probably win anyway in 1977 and go to OT in 2016.

Then it's Watson to Renfrow in a landslide. Every single college football fan knows about that catch, hardly anyone outside the rivalry knows about Fuller to Butler.

beat a rival .... the other a relatively easy catch that won a natty! Both big .... but different.
I remember watching Butler his senior year and there was literally no one in the conference that could cover him on any play! If Fuller had thrown to him every pass play he would have had 150 catches .... except for ones he may have dropped or ones Fuller missed him.

It will depend on who you ask and how old they are. To us older Tigers Fuller to Butler. However, I would like to remind those of you of another -a 65 yard TD pass from Jimmy (Needle) Addison to Jacky Jackson in 1966 to finish one of the biggest comebacks in Clemson history and continue for a time the undefeated streak against UVA.

"The Catch"

against 'Bama should be remembered as the one made by Leggett just before Renfrow's catch. While Renfrow's won the game, it was a "gimmee" off of two very good routes that set it up and it also was a very good throw with the right touch - but the catch of that game was Leggett's.... one of the best I've ever seen. Mike Williams had a few as well in the game. It was an all-round great performance by the receivers..... they wanted it more than 'Bama.

Leggett's catch at FSU and the 20 foot leap on one arm for the end zone has to be up there too as it was vital for the big win.

They were equally important to this program. The Fuller to Butler catch came at a time when Ford was building a national championship program. For historical perspective, the chickens had beat us 56-20 in 1975. It was a huge win. The Watson to Renfrow catch culminated Dabo building a national title type program.
