I hope they're giving out full rides to try and steal our preferred walk-ons. Leaves them with 10.7 scholarships to fill 34 slots. That should work out real well in the long run.

Parke, his family, and coaches contacted Clemson about the possibility of a scholarship but, at the time, it was not an option. Parke then began to explore some other options and South Carolina was one of the phone calls he made. Parke's camp initiated the contact. He visited the Kentucky weekend and was promised a scholarship at South Carolina. Clemson then tabled a scholarship offer. At the end of the day, Parke decided on the Gamecocks for the reasons he detailed in the story.
Neither offered him a full, both offered partial scholarships at the last minute.

The difference may be with all of the young arms on the Clemson staff. Gossett is a sophomore, Crownover, Erwin, Schmidt, and Koerner are all freshman. Four of SC's top six pitchers are seniors. Belcher, Westmoreland, Webb, and Holmes will all be gone after this season. Maybe the kid just reads the handwriting on the wall!!!

Actually we too have a lot of young arms coming back: Wynkoop & Fiori are freshmen and Montgomery & Beal are sophomores. He will fit right in.

To be fair, I am not sure everyone was offering. Not sure when we offered but I think it was fairly recent. Guy has really improved his pitching lately. Maybe now Clemson comes back with an offer but there was no need to when he was already committed and everyone else wasn't on him.

lite that is just an idiotic reply. have you not seen the south carolina players recruited for this team, next years and the year after. this jack dont like sc boys is just total bs.if you just dont like jack, say that. no sense making yourself look foolish with the recruiting stuff. have you not seen the young guns on our staff. maybe this kid saw the writing on the wall.

that this pitcher mentioned going to Clemson. He said two on the infield.
and is this true he flipped, I see nothing about it anywhere else.
will Jack go back in after him or the recruiting coord. in baseball,
losing a LHP is bad and it's worse to have him and then lose him to USuck

According to chatter on another site, he was not a schollie offer, but a preferred walk on. The Coots offered him a schollie. I don't know. I don't follow baseball or baseball recruiting.

solid Coots when Bill played in high school. When he was not recruited by the yard birds (because of his size) and signed with Clemson. They were all orange. His all ACC play speaks for itself. When Scott came a long our coach thought he was in the bag as a legacy and except for an initial contact, ignored him during the recuiting process. The Coots coaching staff called him once or twice a week during baseball season and attended many games. When Scott signed with them, the Orange went into the can and Garnet was put back on the wall.
Yes, Scott could have played at Clemson and wanted to, but he went where interest was shown.

and that is why CU/Jack didn't go after Wingo hard like socar. He probably would have rode the bench at Clemson.
Scott was a solid 2B (reminding me of his Dad who always gave great effort and heart).
btw, I grew up with Scott's Mom Nancy (school and church), his Uncle Huey (who I caught for in Pony League), and his grandfather Judge Hubert.

Yes you are right the fact that he is getting offered a scholarship at one school and not at the other has no bearing on his decision.

had that spot for you. SC is a great baseball school and you will do well. Take a deep breath and do understand that you have your job and you have a team to do theirs. Cool down on the mound. Baseball is a team sport all the way - best game ever created. Do your job and let it fall in place. all the respect for you and your family.

I doubt he was offered a full scholarship with the scholarship situation in baseball. Any money is better than no money though.
