Ford Maverick

Anybody know much about these? I was thinking today that as much as a Prius makes sense, one thing I really do enjoy about the Forester is AWD, wee bit more ground clearance than a sedan, and it's functional as a hauler. Then I remembered the Maverick and how much I love that little bloke.

Loved it. My first car. Dad had an old broken down one in back of the house. He said "If you can make it run, it's yours. I did.

He should have...I rebuilt the brakes, the drive train, the carburetor, the radiator, replaced the front seats, and swapped out the radio and all the lights.

He had to help me with the transmission and electrical system. I don't think I was legal to drive it outside the yard for another couple of years, though.

I do remember it had an interior about one notch up from a Volkswagen Beetle. The glove compartment was just a shelf, no air conditioning, no power steering, heck, no power anything. And, you could see the street under the engine from any location. Simple, elegant, and sweet.

Compared to riding to school on a bicycle, the Maverick was a pure muscle car. I know I impressed the girls peeling out in that baby.

It was Dad's car, but the one I used until I saved up enough to buy the '69 Mustang Mach 1 senior year of high school.

Travels a lot for work. I guess it has enough room to move some stuff around if it’s more than a couple pieces of luggage.

I have not axed him if he likes it or not recently. Maybe I should.

It's a Hybrid version, IIRC
