Possible starting point guard controversy...

Nov 25, 2012, 10:48 PM

Although Rod Hall has done fairly well this year handling the ball and not turning it over, I feel as if Filer gives us more of an upside with his offensive skill.

Filer will play at the off guard more

Hall takes care of the ball and gives us someone to "jam" the ball handler up the floor.

"I've been working since I was 15 continually until now. I worked 40 hours a week at 15, when it wasn't even legal for 15 year olds to work that many hours."

Yeah, Hall, Filer, McDaniel, Book & Milt is not a bad 5.***

I could see that. TJ Sapp hasn't really done anything anyways.

Can either one or both play DB for our football team?

maybe throw carson fields back there, not like he gets to play anyway... brownell puts him in the games with like 40 seconds, at the end of the game today you could tell he wanted to score so bad and just hoisted up an ugly shot

Coach Brownell Stated ....

that we play with 9+ players every game ... thus, there is no starting point guard controversy... expect to see starting players to rotate depending on the characteristics of the opposing team ...

Filer over Sapp in the starting 5 seems more likely.

Hall may not be the flashiest, but he has been very solid, and is the best defender on the team. Also, if you look at the minutes played per game, Hall is actually leading the team. I wouldn't be surprised at all though to see Harrison start at SG, and then have Filer be the first man off the bench since he could come in and replace either Hall or Harrison if one got into early foul trouble.

The main key though is minutes played, and not actually who starts. Filer is already getting starter-type minutes.

No reason to change things right now

Nov 26, 2012, 12:53 PM

Nov/Dec are when you define roles. While Sapp is not doing much statistically, he is one of the leaders on the team. He was integral during the offseason in organizing down time workouts along with KJ. He's playing good D. Filer is playing more minutes, and Roper is getting his as well. Leadership is important right now on a young team. Let Sapp continue to start but the other guys get more minutes. Helped get us off to the good start against UTEP with the 2 quick 3's. He can shoot when open, just doesn't get his own shot like Filer or Roper. The roles on this team seem to have come together far quciker than BB's first 2 teams. No reason to rock that boat, at least, not now

Rod Hall makes life hell for other PGs on defense

Nov 26, 2012, 11:12 AM

The guy knows how to flail and harass. Really fun watching him be disruptive.

Great defender and doesn't turn the ball over. Filer's a better scorer but I think Hall's a better overall PG right now.

Big fan of Hall right now

Nov 26, 2012, 12:48 PM

is a shut down perimeter defender, very physical. Has a 22-4 assist/TO ratio. Can get to the basket. No, he's not a great shooter. But if he can hit free throws, he'll get some points off being fouled in the paint. He's a PG in the Bobby Conrad mode, which isn't a bad thing
