We are missing some marbles

Ok... Look last week everyone was upset Clemson wasn't in the top 4. This week Clemson is 3rd. So people are upset because UGA is 4th and that they lost to the coots. Well, the same people yelling about that were you yelling in 2017 when Clemson lost to a Syracuse team that finished 4-8 that Clemson didn't deserve to be in the top 4? UGA does have wins over 11th and 16th (no matter if you agree with the rankings or not) something Alabama doesn't. The PAC 12 isn't looked very highly on (neither is the ACC but Clemson is getting respect... nobody wants to think about that). This is the second CFP poll to come out with 4 more to follow don't get your panties in a wad right now. Clemson has 3 games left before bowl season and I hope they don't lose but well they could. It doesn't matter if Clemson is #1 wearing orange tops vs white tops it won't be played in Clemson SC no matter what the number beside their name says. UGA has games left to pay, OSU has games left to play, LSU has games left to play and the same with Alabama. ESPN is making money off this 30-minute show so take what they say with a grain of salt b/c they know just about as you do right now what the playoff is going to look like by the time the first playoff game is set to kick off.

Fair point, and I am sure no one is more mad than UGA

that they lost to SCAR and are #4 with a couple of tough games still looming.
Curious, though, what do you think the top 5 would look like tonight if Georgia had won over SCAR? No change? Flip Clemson and Georgia? But you are right that to get in, Georgia has to run the table and win the conference, just like we had to when we lost to Pitt and Syracuse.

yep uga 3 and Clemson 4th if they were undefeated.. Yeah Clemson is the defending champs but this committee has said time and time again since the start of these playoffs era (even with changing of the committee members) it's based on this year. Clemson doesn't have the wins against quality opponents as other schools do. Can Clemson win the whole thing and repeat. Yep, they absolutely can but just b/c they are the defending champs and the narrative until we lose we are number one. Well, the top 25 teams aren't even on our schedule and until the final rankings come out then that part of the narrative is true. IF Clemson isn't #1 at the end it does mean someone beat us.

How would 'quality' be defined?

I'm too lazy to check the records but...

if I am not mistaken, several highly ranked teams lost the same week Clemson did in those years and that affected the ranking. Clemson didn't drop out even with a loss because other teams in the running also lost. Correct me if I am wrong, would not be the first time.
uga lost to the coots, at home. No way they should be top 4 right now... Enough said!
Go Tigers!!!

Yes, it was fortunate several other top teams lost. Also, they forgave an early or mid-season loss, not so much a loss in the final 3rd of the season.

The committee has said many times that they take into account injuries to key players. When we lost to Syracuse, on the road, our QB was knocked out of the game.
When UGA, lost at home to the Coots it was the Coots 2nd string quarterback that got knocked out of the game. Just the opposite. UGA should be punished for that.

have you looked at Minnesota's schedule and end results of barely beating teams? If this team wins the next couple of games I will agree with you but I'm not going to say Minnesota is the 4th best team when they haven't played anyone and barely beat most of those teams just because of one game.

Clemson doesn't have any signature wins. Again it doesn't matter if they are 1 or 4th. The color of jersey isn't going to change the outcome of a game if Clemson wins out and goes to the playoffs.

We’ve done much better when we weren’t #1 going in. Only #1 that matters is after the championship.

Unless something drastically happens I expect the top three to be in the same position om the final ranking ---- LSU, Ohio State and Clemson. The number four spot is up for grabs and there are several teams who will be battling for that spot in the conference championship game. I would like to see Minnesota to defeat Ohio State but I don't believe that will happen.
If another SEC team gets in we should hope they will be No. 1 and 4 to eliminate the possibility of having both teams in the final.

Besides you should want UGA or Alabama to be 4th.. If they do LSU will go to Arizona leaving us with ohio state in Atlanta

I disagree with the committee on one major point

Losses should count more than good wins.
GA loss to SC is not “offset” by beating a weak fl or ND. Fl barely survived Miami. And Nd is over-rated as always.
Losing at home to the coots is a horrible loss.
Personally, I value conference championships. All of the other one loss teams lost to much better teams than ga. I would have Oregon or ok at 4.
