Everyone realizes that if we win out, our BCS rank will be

the same, or within 1 or 2 spots of our coach's poll/AP rank, right?
The computer formula fluctuates tremendously. It's really not that bad of a system. Polls don't matter until the end of the season. Why is everyone upset?

I agree. We should just wait and see how things pan out before getting too fired up ... and regardless, beating the Gamecocks would be nice! Win out... we will be in a BCS Bowl... and who knows what could happen with this VT/FSU game this week... Go VT (this week only)!

Where is this "Win out and we WILL be in a BCS bowl"

stuff keep coming from? If we win out and OK and Oregon state win out too, then we are NOT going to a BCS bowl. Our destiny is NOT in our hands. And the bias in the BCS poll has put us in that position.

Because, apparently, they really struggle with math. The computer polls are meaningless until the end of the season. If FSU beats Florida and we beat USC the computer numbers will go batsh*t and destroy the SEC's stranglehold. If we split or both lose, the status quo remains. If Ga Tech could pull an ACC sweep against UGA (I know its unlikely) you would have every SEC team but Alabama fall out of top 10 in computers. The computers aren't people - you rarely get punished for losing games you were expected to lose unlike in regular polls. I'm just hoping for Texas A&M to beat Alabama this weekend and start the chaos early.

Not everyone is upset. There are those of with level heads. You definitly are one of them. The one's who are upset are those who think we should be ranked # 1 simply because we are Clemson. They don't look at the system.Better yet they don't understand the system. Heck, even I don't fully understand the system, but at the end of the year it should be #1 vs #2 in the BCS that play for the national championship. And for those of you that look at Clemsom only thru orange colored glasses,we ain't going to be ranked either #1 or #2.

Should be interesting to say how the computers treat the Coots, the next couple of weeks. The Razorbacks and Terriers should drag them down.

Respectfully disagree that the polls completely matter...

I agree that it is obviously the end of regular season poll that matters; however, the polls absolutely matter now and we are seeing this in 2 of the SEC teams ahead of us. When you have 5 teams in the top 10 to start the season (replace Arkansas with Florida now) and you are one of those 5 teams, you will be getting the benefit of the doubt every week. If you lose to one of those teams in the top 10 or someone like Miss State you will never drop far because of the preseason weighting. This is of course unless you lose like Arkansas has done. I mean look at So. Carolina. They have only beaten UGA who has only beaten Florida who looks anemic at best on offense.
The bottom line is the SEC isn't that good this year outside of Alabama and A&M (I think they look great now).
It would have worked itself out by now in the ACC, but what if Duke, UNC, and NC State were ranked in the top 10 to begin the season along with us and FSU? A few weeks ago all of those teams looked pretty good and without a doubt we would have been more highly ranked in the BCS. Now, again this would have worked itself out over the past few weeks but we would likely be higher in the BCS while that happened.

I think the BCS formula worked against Boise State

for a long time. Despite being a good team, they were permanently handicapped because of where they played, conference-wise.

Too much of a closed system

Of the 5 SEC teams in the BCS Top Ten only Bama (Michigan) & LSU (Washington) have played a AQ OOC opponent. With the bottom of the SEC being horrible there have been no upsets/no movement. The only hope for movement comes with UF/FSU, SCAR/Clemson & UGA/GT.
