I agree but everyone thought DJ would be great until this year. You never know until these guys actually pray.

The only thing CK needs to do is put on some muscle. He is a tad bit skinny other than that he will be our next great one. He has all the tools and can make all the throws . We have plenty of RBs to run the ball.

There are plenty of P5 programs with an OC and QB coach that would jump at the opportunity to develop DJ into a legit pro style QB. I bet Wisconsin or ND would welcome him and provide an Oline to protect him.
I don’t think DJ will transfer but if he does it would probably be after spring camp.

Would be curious to see what comments were about DJ when he signed with us? Was there doubt about his capability? What about even after loss to ND? Was everyone this down on DJ? Yet now you can’t wait for him to move on but are certain Cade is your guy.

From what I am seeing in his HS videos this season, Cade is doing just that. I'm looking forward to seeing what he does here next year.

back there again. Opens up more options for us on offense if defenses believe the QB can hurt them with his legs.

You remember first time T.L. walked on field? Looked like a stick with a helmet on. He turned out fine. Actually threw the ball better when he was a stick.

Bet everything dj will be starting qb and he should be. He will be better in this offense. Experience is the best coach and with everyone beating him down and telling him how bad he is when the wrs can't catch the ball thrown at them perfectly or when the line misses simple blocks. You support someone when there down you don't beat them down even farther but most of yaw don't understand things like that and don't understand how football works obviously. Qb and the coach is the only ones to blame right. Once yaw understand dj is not the issue and start supporting him things will get better the line will get better but wr play absolutely needs to get better. Cause it's the worst in a decade. Trevor missed lots of throws he should of made and his was bailed him out on a lot of his high throws by catching them but they are not doing that this year.

DJ will be the starter and Cade will get plenty of reps and will learn the system and get stronger. He will have every opportunity to beat DJ out, but they will see what happens.

I try to like him, but he is lost as last year's Easter egg. He has deer in head lights look. It's not all his fault, but I don't see him working out.

Maybe stick with Clemson's first 400-yard passer

We'll see! Trevor had a sophomore slump, too.
Hopefully not only does DJU stay but returns to the form of being Clemson's first 400-yard passer.

Everyone thought we were headed on another Natty run. Armed with a Heisman candidate QB and bevi of receivers and a top defense returning. Unfortunately DJ has not worked out. Yes the oline is not good and there are dropped passes. But he has not shown any high level of mettle in low stakes games - GTech, BC, Syracuse. How in the world is he going to be poised in a high stakes game? The fan base seems to have turned against him and with good reason as commented in the posts on this chain. I wish it wasn’t so but he is not a D1 high level performer and never will be. His feet and apparently his mind are too slow.

1975 and we were supposed to be loaded at quarterback. Finished the season 2-9. One in particular was a can’t miss from Spartanburg. Didn’t seem that way. Later on he seemed to improve, wore the #4 jersey.
DJ will be a good if not great QB somewhere. Hopefully here. The kid was rattled by Georgia and his receivers haven’t helped him. The OL is injured and hasn’t been playing as a group. There is a lack of confidence that is visible. Right now the game is moving too fast for him but I think he will overcome it, but it may be next year before it happens.

If dj doesn’t transfer, which I don’t think he will. He will be our starter next year. I believe Cade will be good but he is not big enough to come in and dominate like deshaun and Trevor did. Cade is 6’2 maybe. 185. He will need to bulk up.
As for Dj, he showed signs last year of happy feet. Look at the Notre Dame game last year in ot. They put pressure on him. He danced around and looked like a deer in a headlight. I think he will be much more improved next year. He has definitely worked on his touch some this year but still under pressure tries to throw a 90 mph fast ball. We as fans got to remember not everyone is going to be dw4 and tl16. We have been spoiled. I get that he showed out last year in two games but we had a much better football team on the offensive side of the ball. Nobody realized how good of routes Cornell and Amari ran. They were crisp and it didn’t hurt to have ETN as a safety blanket. Shipley will get there but he is still young. Yes we have good big body receivers, but not so much route runner expect for Justin and his injury I think has gotten to him with good reason. And ngata has showed flashes. But everyone else was is just a deep threat including our tight ends who are slow and can’t run routes. But take it to the bank if Dj is here next year he will be the starter bearing injury.

I have not given up on DJ. Made a “freshman” mistake on the shovel pass. Then the wideouts and running backs could not catch the ball.
Also, J Ross needed to fight for the ball a little more on the first pick. But let’s be honest, that was straight up PI too.

Now Tony is a different story. Really really like the guy and want him to succeed, but you cannot have this offense and as a coordinator not be able to crack the top 80.
David can you please ask why we continue to run the WR screen when 75% of the time it is a TFL or very minimal gain.
If he is kept on, he must adjust this scheme. Does not have to be wholesale, but some things need to change.

If he competes in the Spring then maybe. If he enrolls in the summer, then it could be mid season. Like the KB/TL year.

Well it will probably be a 2018 situation. DJ starts out and has a chance to show what he has improved on in the offseason. If he struggles then CK comes in looking like magic.. it will be exactly like 2018.

I think a lot remains to be seen. I can see a scenario where DJU may not be QB 1 for the Tigers. I think the QB discussion is moot until we develop an O line that can dominate run and pass blocking. I think you put all the skill players at risk when you expect them to compensate for weakness that starts on the LOS. DW4 and TL were able to do that but, I think it is too much to continue to expect. Lets develop our OLine into a unit that will allow our skill players to shine. I believe in our program, and I believe indeed, the best is still yet to come!!! Go Tigers!
