As much as I love Watson...

and as much as I truly appreciate what he's done for the school, it's a no. That honor is reserved for seniors only. If Watson or anyone wants it, he has to come back for his senior year. That's the way it should be and how it can persuade players to stay one more year.
Another reason, if we do it for Watson, it'll lead to questions that if we need to it for Williams. What about Scott? Then, next year, do we need to do it for Wilkins? Cain? McCloud? What about those who don't get to be honored? How would they feel? Where is the line drawn? This will put the coaches in a difficult situation.
I think something like this is okay:

Class rank is done by how many hours you have taken. As far as academics are concerned deshaun is a senior.
He is not leaving without a degree. If you bust your ### that much and graduate in three years and played football, you deserve to be acknowledged.

Sorry, but this is BS. It's not his fault that he will graduate in less than 4 years. He doesn't "owe" us another year of football, and it shouldn't prevent him from being honored with the rest of the seniors.

It's not that I don't want him to be honored. Heck, yeah, he deserves it. But a line must be drawn somewhere so that it doesn't appear as if he gets a special treatment. (This sort of thing can cause issue in the team in the long run if mistreated.) You want to make it fair to everybody in the team.
Graduation together with intention to leave is a good criteria to use. But do we force players to make decision now? If not and then we honor players like Watson now, do we do it again next year if he stays for another year?

The line IS drawn - Senior Day recognizes those players who are academic seniors. I don't understand the confusion.

Zac Brooks got the senior treatment last season, and while a good ballplayer, was not a star. Hmm, maybe because he had graduated? Not to be contentious, but let's let Dabo coach the team as he thinks best. Too many people worry about how he awards scholarships, how he sets the depth chart and more. He has taken is to a level of winning only one or two other programs have enjoyed in this period. Let's enjoy it and stop worrying so much.

Dabo has demonstrated over and over

that he wants his players to graduate. The players recognized this Saturday will be those who are academically seniors. Those players planning to leave school early for the draft, even though this will be their last game as a Tiger, are not seniors and will not be honored as such. We love them, appreciate their football contributions, and wish them well but they are not seniors. Deshaun has obviously worked his butt off on the field AND in the classroom and deserves to be recognized on Senior Day - because he IS a senior.

I'm pretty sure that horse left the barn long ago. When Sammy was honored with Seniors, it pretty much set that up. Besides, when I had only been going to school for about 15 months, I looked at an updated transcript one day and it said Junior. Does that make it any less true? The kid has put in thenwork, taken 19 credits AND practice, lifting and film study. Heck, I did 19 credits one semester and drank beer, that alone was enough for me!

Sammy wasn't honored with the seniors.
The only player ever allowed to be honored and run down the hill with the seniors by Dabo that wasn't an actual senior was Kyle Parker.
Here's 2013 senior day.....

Are yall sure on that one? I am getting older and possibly senile, but I really seem to recall a big deal being made ovet Sammy being honored with the Seniors. Not trying to argue, but If I'm wrong I need to go back for a refund to Total Recall Travel Services!

Thank you for posting this. I don't know why I had it stuck in my head about that, but it sure was and I mean very deeply it would seem LOL. However, when mistaken I always try to own up to it. So thank you for this awesome video evidence!

I believe he will be allowed to if he chooses to. I'm pretty sure it's happened for others previously.

Great shout out to this young man who busted his ### in the classroom and on the field. Graduating in 2 1/2 years while playing major college football deserves recognition more than just 4 or 5 years on the football field.
