lol. The odd thing is that Columbia already has a What-A-Burger that must not be tied to the franchise. It's on highway 1 in West Columbia. It's ok but Rush's smokes it! Best burger in the country. Rush's. A shame it is in Columbia. They do have one location in Camden. Unbelievable hot dogs, fried chicken, and milkshakes as well.

Rush's has a good hamburger but the best in the country is a big stretch ....need to try Ike's in Spartanburg then decide ?

Ike’s is the best burger in the state. And it’s a total dive of a restaurant. Ha. I’m probably the only one to ever call it a restaurant.

Rush's makes a decent hamburger with a distinct flavor, but "best in the country" is not even close.
If you've only had McDonald's and Rush's, then I can understand why you would say that.
Even among national quick service chains, they might not make the top ten. In-and-Out, Whataburger, Wendy's, Hardee's (when the employees care), Steak and Shake, Cookout, and Culver's all make a better burger. Sonic is on equal par. I'd go to Rush's before Burger King, Krystal. McD's and Jack in the Box.
Then you have the gourmet burger places like Red Robin, Five Guys, Fuddruckers, Shake Shack, Smashburger, etc. that really kill it. For a "value" burger, Rush's isn't bad. We used to make the commute from Charleston to Spartanburg and back to visit family and would often time our meals to eat at Rush's partly due to the nostalgia of having lived in Irmo and eating Rush's frequently.

The when employees care got me. Bout spit out my water.
It’s true though even for the major chains like McDs or Wendy’s. Sometimes it’s great, but you can tell when they are half assing it and the food you get is subpar. That doubly sucks these days cause fast food has gotten so expensive.

The Whataburger in West Columbia is a shameful fraud and certainly NOT affiliated with the real one, which as a young man I used to love frequenting in Fort Walton Beach Florida. Will be interesting to see how their current products compare to my earlier memories. They had my favorite cheeseburgers and chocolate shakes.
