Clemson and Ohio St

Are the only two teams that are in the top 5 for both offense and defense? Ohio St is currently 1st in both and Clemaon is 3rd on defense, with 11 games played compared to OSU and Georgia's 10. Clemson is 5th on the offensive side.
I don't see OSU finishing 1st in both. I might just have to rewatch some of OSU's games. From my initial viewing throughout the season, they really didn't overly impress me. They seem to be heavily reliant on single star players on each h side. Dobbins on offense and Young on defense. They just never came across as elite talents throughout the units. Perhaps I was to biased originally or maybe just ignorant.

You need to actually watch them play if you think all they have is Dobbins and Young. They have some big time studs on defense. Their defense is the most athletic in college football.
You also forgot about Justin Fields, who is their MVP. For good reason, he will finish #2 behind Joe Burrow for the Heisman.
Ohio State is the only team that might be as good as us.

I have watched them. Though I must admit that I didn't watch any games from beginning to end. I have seen enough that I wasnt blown away by either unit for OSU. It might have been due to the competition they were playing. I view their schedule much like ESPN and Find a bum views Clemsons schedule. The Buckeyes have had a schedule scattered with landfill trash.
It's hard to be overly impressed with anything they have done as a team. Dobbins and Young are stud athletes. I'm not sold on Feilds. Let's see what he does against a to 20 defense in Penn St and a top 5 defense in Michigan. Then I will join the parade of Heisman hype.
Yet as I stated, perhaps I was a bit harsh with my orange tinted glasses on. When you watch a real team that's coached by the best coaches in college football each and every week, I suppose ones opinion could become distorted. Or maybe none measures up to the Clemaon standard. You know what they say in Clemson...Best is standard.

We were both right, in our own right, to write the right stats so that means we were both right, right?

I haven’t watched a ton of their games, but I think Ohio St. would challenge us more than LSU. To me, Clemson an OSU are very well matched and would be a great game.
As mentioned above, I think our greatest advantage vs. OSU is coaching.

Good information but the only numbers that matter are # 1,#2,#3 and #4 in the CFP Ranking.

Who Have They Played

Ohio State has been impressive; but I have seen Fields in the game late when they are up by 6 TD's padding the stats. Clemson would have looked just as good playing the 1's the whole game. Same on defense. Two different philosophies and in my opinion - same strength of schedule so far. FAU - 7 -3 Cincinatti - 9- 1 Nebraska - probably not making a bowl Michigan State - probably not making a bowl Wisconsin - meh, one dimensional. Stop Taylor. Win game. Rutgers - not making a bowl Maryland - not making a bowl Miami(OH) - 6- 4 Indiana - Wake equivalent in Big 10. Inflated record but suspect teams. 7-3 Northwestern - not making a bowl
So the best P5 schools they have faced all have losing records except Wisconsin(see above though). Again, they may be as good as they look, but it's hard for me to give a ton of "scary good" credit because of the recruiting game of every team they have played so far. Yes, including the ones with good records. Team speed advantage in those games had to look like Varsity versus JV. What would happen if say the team across from them had the same or better "team speed"?

Who on their schedule have they played that could match them physically to date?

We should learn plenty about Ohio State this weekend. I expect them to lay ~50 on Penn State. If Hamler doesn't play, Penn State's offense is in deep trouble.
The only reason for it to be close is OSU looking forward to Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Has anybody noticed in Pn St games their QB throws lob balls when throwing deep. I mean it looks like a rainbow when he throws it. I think any team with a safety that runs faster than a 5.0 40 could intercept his passes,

If he's lobbing those passes way down the field so that only TJ Hamler can run underneath, it's usually all good for them.

The CFPC will try their best to pit CLEMSON vs OSU so LSU does not have to beat BOTH of our teams. LSU absolutely cannot do that. IMO, and it's ORANGE, is that CLEMSON is the ONLY team that can beat 2 of the other CFP teams. It would just be harder to have to play OSU to get to LSU and LSU having played a weak opponent in the semi.

OSU looks for real this year but I have thought that before. We should learn more over the next couple of weeks.
