at WindJammers on a Thursday afternoon, then proceeded to Savannah (St Patricks Day festival) in 1997. I remember listening to the Foo Fighters album (The Colour and the Shape) the who way down for the first time.
What great memories!!

It is definitely worded strangely. That's why I've asked where he heard it. The Windjammer (not Windjammers) is a long-standing bar on IOP. Stage inside, stage outside, volleyball, and yes great burgers. There are music acts there constantly, including some pretty big names considering it's a small venue.
The VFW is right next door and their balcony overlooks The Windjammer. VFW members can stand there and watch the music acts on the beach stage without having to buy an entry ticket to Windjammer.
So, is 1972 saying just the VFW is closing? Or The Windjammer?

It’s just the VFW. Unfortunately liquor liability has gone up sharply but they are also heavily basing rates on percentage food versus liquor sold also. So businesses not primarily in the business of selling food are getting beat down. This is especially punishing to live music venues which typically do all their sales in a pretty tight window of time - unlike a neighborhood bar that might do steady business for 8-10 hours on a good day.

confused with The Windjammer, and called it “Windjammers” in error which made it even more confusing. I haven’t heard anything about The Windjammer closing, but anything is possible.

This is happening all over SC, bars are closing left and right solely to the dramatic increase in liability insurance costs. As a former working musician, I hear this coming from friends and former bandmates regularly about venues closing steadily. The past two years have been brutal.
