I always appreciated Boulware’s intensity and work ethic. But he like Van Smith, needs a lesson in humility and loyalty.
While Boulware had intensity, he was a slow undersized LB who couldn’t cover TEs or RBs, would often over pursue, and struggled with plays that weren’t within five yards of the line of scrimmage. His deficiencies were covered up by the talent that was on the defense while he played at Clemson. Point in case the Louisville game in 2016. Louisville was able to come back in that game because Lamar Jackson was able to exploit Boulware’s deficiencies.
He should be grateful and appreciative of what he was able to experience at Clemson. He should have the utmost respect for Dabo, who gave him the opportunity to come to Clemson and enjoy success. Calling him “Swinney” instead of coach on the radio was hugely disrespectful. Putting down the current players was beyond ridiculous. Maybe he was drunk, but his comments were beyond disrespectful to Dabo and the current players.
Hopes he enjoys cheering on the gamecocks men’s basketball team and running his little gym.
Kind of ironic how two players in Boulware and Van Smith, whose deficiencies were covered up by more talented players on defense, have come out publicly blasting Dabo.

I don't think he is saying anything wrong. Its at most slightly abrasive. He is proud of that great team he was on. This current team doesn't compare. I am sure he loves Clemson and Dabo.

I hate hearing it from a guy on the side of the ball that was not the primary reason the 2016 team was better. Let Watson or Williams make the statement.
This team just lost to FSU after the defense holding them to 17 points and less than 300 yards in regulation. Boulware's team did beat Bama but the defense gave up 31 points and 376 yards. Not a bad effort, but if we are looking for the truth, the FSU offense is better than that version of Alabama.
Maybe this TEAM does not compare to the 2016 one, but this defense very well might be better. Boulware just needs to be grateful that he played on a team with Watson, Williams, and the rest of the 2016 offense.

Lots of stupid posts on here, but I think yours takes the cake. Boulware was part of the heart and soul of that defense..more importantly, he was a team leader. He had every right to say what he did and was 100% correct.

I guess you forgot how close the 2016 team came to losing to NC State. Their kicker misses a chip shot on the last play of the game so that it goes to OT. I could also mention that the 2016 team barely beat the powerhouse Troy.
I'm not saying that the 2016 team wasn't great, but I the 2023 team is pretty dang good as well. And this defense is special. If they have anything to say about it, then we run the table and see how far that gets us. There won't be a single team that wants to see Clemson at the end of this season.

Ben didn't say anything wrong. He is 1000% for Clemson and gave it all he had while he was on that great team. He has a right to be proud of what they accomplished. Can you not see why he feels the comparison was diminishing those accomplishments? I'm sure that some of his former teammates feel the same.

BV was one of the best so that comparison is not fair.
The defense has not lost us a game this year. I am a fan of Wes. Not really. The verdict is still out. But he is learning and his defenses have been solid.
I worry about his recruiting and ability to connect / inspire his players.

You gotta quit believing all his coach speak and then getting mad when others question him. He said this team was National Championship caliber, but now sits at 2-2.
He said this is the fastest team he’s ever had, but the Duke QB looked like Usain Bolt as he ran past our defense.
He loses in OT and the first words out of his mouth is this team will win one, maybe two, National Championships.
Dabo has done great things for this program but sometimes I wish he would keep his mouth shut.

Well…..he was right. This team isn’t even remotely close to contender status. You do’ t have to be a hater to see the deficiencies

He’s an adult man and not on the team. Why does he still have to call him coach? I don’t call my former bosses “boss”. The last thing Dabo needs is to have his ego continuously inflated.

Dabo won two national titles and numerous playoff berths earn him the right to some respect. It’s truly sad that you can’t see that, really sad. He’s by far the best coach you’ve ever had and now he’s a POS to some of you.
