Notre Dame may be forced to join a conference - Interesting

Aug 19, 2023, 3:50 PM

Is ND bound to any extent by the ACC GOR?

* If so, this could force them to fully join the ACC in football.

* If not, they would likely leave the ACC and join the B1G.

Based on my understanding

ND doesn't have free will in FB. If they are to join a conference, it's gotta be the ACC -- fairly certain this was in the deal they signed...

That said, wouldn't surprise me to learn that what I'm thinking isn't the case seeing as folks actually signed off on that God awful GOR agreement

ND has no GOR issues in football because of their independent status and their exclusivity to join the ACC if they decide to join a conference runs out in 2024.

Not my understanding. 2036...

I’m pretty sure ND’s GOR lock expires after 2024.

2036. It aligns with the ACC/ESPN deal, as ND is how

the ACC ended with a higher fee from ESPN than without them.

I was wrong about ND GOR but I’ve read conflicting views and I can’t say for certainty exactly how it all works.

Even if ND signed such an agreement,

the ACC would likely let them out of it. To be nice.

That expires in a few years

You are correct

Per the ND agreement

ND is bound by the GOR until 2035-2036 in all sports but football with the following caveat…

If ND forgoes independence in football, they must join the acc and sign over their football media rights for the remainder of the GOR term (2035-2036).
