Someone in the know, I just want to satisfy some 50 year old curiosity without

killing the cat. When I was at Clemson, 1972-76, we had a seating section called the "Rabble Rousers". It was supposedly first come, first served student seating, but, not really. I say that because, it didn't seem to matter HOW early you got there, those seats were already taken. What I suspect is, Frats or other "privileged" class students were being let in early, and hogged those seats, always. Is there anyone on here who can corroborate that?

Back when I went to school, the first come first serve section was on the hill.***

Ticketing was another area where the Frats got special treatment. Back when I

was there, the lines for ticket distribution were at Tillman Hall. And again, it didn't matter how early you got there, there would be Frat Boys with their cigar box full of student IDs at the very front of the line, scarfing up all the primo tickets before anyone else got a chance at them. Football, basketball, it didn't matter, the same situation played out over and over. Just a precursor for the real world, where the rich get special treatment.

:(

From 78-82 tickets for football were distributed by class. As a freshman I was among the first group to sit in the newly constructed upper deck. Didn't even have the seats yet. Sat on the concrete. Fraternity and sorority tickets were done in blocks for football. Never did that for basketball. Not sure what "primo" is in the student section.

I always thought that the "Rabble Rousers" were the seats (bleachers) on the floor at Littlejohn and they were all members of Central Spirit.

Well, when I was there (61-65) you picked your tickets up at that office on the Loggia. On Mon. Seniors got tickets, Tues., Jrs., wed., sophs., Thursday, freshmen, and Friday any one who missed the day they were supposed to pick up, could get tickets. The only bad thing about picking them up was that all the day students living off campus, parked their horse and wagons nearby and horse chit was everywhere.

I wish the students still dressed up in coats and ties for the ballgames like they did back in the day rather than some looking like they just rolled out of bed to come to the game.

I've noticed that coat and tie tradition still holds at Bama and Auburn.

I graduated in 1975. I sat in the Rabble Rousers just about every home game in my junior and senior years. I was not in a fraternity.

Just to be clear, I was in no way a privileged class student either.

Same with me. Graduated in ‘76 and sat in the Rabble Rouser section pretty much all the games . Just a lowly peon student who stood in line to get the best seat in the house.
