Exactly! It is obvious that for many of the scholarship players it is not about the school or the free education. They are all NFL farm leaguers looking to cash in. They don't give a hoot about getting a degree. They pull for the money and for each other to get 'em sum. Bitter as that sounds, more power to them. Let'em chase the dream that only 5% will ever get to. However, you can't tell me that Florida would not be a great place for a running back like Ettienne to make his mark. If you are a great talent you'll make your mark anywhere that you play and you'll be drafted. The NFL does not overlook talent. So it has to be NIL money and other teams wispering in a player's ear with that.
The big change in NIL I would like to see is for the NCAA to add huge penalties for schools or boosters contacting players on other teams prior to them being in the portal. Not so much as a text saying, "Great Game" should be allowed. If a player decides to get in the portal it should be in a total vacuum of recruiting him with money or other promises.

Word is he’s going to Georgia. They’ve been working on a deal with him for the past two weeks. A lot of these A-listers already have deals in place when they hit the portal. He’ll likely be in Athens before Pearman even knows he entered the portal.

to some degree. Theres no way you can convince me that everyone is being good little boys and just waiting until they're fully free from the other team in the portal. And they always go to the usual suspects (UGA, LSU, Texas, FSU, Ole Miss) the known cheaters through the years. They do it through 3rd party headhunters.

exactly...it's amazing how many people on here b^itch about Dabo and the portal. allthewhile not having a clue how it works and the fact that any of the players we'd want (better than what we already have), have likely already got a deal in place; and hence is 'why' they're in the portal. And we don't have that kind of money to compete so it's a moot point - guess the sheep just like to get worked up over it because they truly don't understand it beyond other click bait.

The very top of the line portal entry athletes; likely already know where they are headed prior to entering.
People - think about some of the folks who left Clemson. Did they become stars? The WR who went to Miami. Ajou Ajou. Mike Jones Jr. Nyles Pinckney - who did start at Minnesota but wasn't a game changer. The list could go on and on; Lavonta Bentley.
Every player in the portal in other words are not "game changers"!
The Trevor Etiene's of the portal already know where the are going! No need to get upset at all or worry about it.
P.S. I can't stress this enough: Clemson didn't have scholarships to offer since the TP got in full swing. So, cool your jets about Dabo being a victim or blah blah blah. You are just being a hater at this point and it's not good.

are heading prior to entering." Is the part that has to stop b/c it is the contact that more than likely started (meddling) prior to said elite player expressing any interest in transferring. Clemson is at a disadvantage (for championships) if we're deciding not to meddle yet the other elite programs just do what they want.The meddling needs to be investigated and punished if it in fact is occurring and if I had my wish I would want the 1 year sit out rule to be re-instated. That would fix alot of this flash in the pan FSU type re-builds that occur b/c they push the envelope. How many of their starters this year were transfers from the portal? And they were undefeated. They wouldn't have been so successful had these transfers been mandated to sit out a year.

I have said the same thing until I am blue in the face. Dabo is not going to condone tampering so the whole Dabo doesn’t use the portal narrative is irrelevant. Dabo should just come out and say that. He hinted at it at the presser about who would play in the bowl. He should just say “ I would love to use the portal more but by the time we are officially allowed to talk to kids, they already have a NIL deal in place with someone else.”

Of course it is. Deals are brokered well before these top players enter the portal. This is a clear violation of rules, but when there is zero ability (or will) to enforce, it is essentially legal. This is how top programs fill annual gaps in their roster (sometimes just 1-3 spots) with high caliber experience players.

No, but I doubt Clemson will outbid the competition for experienced players. The other issue is available pool of NIL money at Clemson. Tampering is out there, but you have to buy players now. UGA, Michigan, UT, Oregon, Louisville, FSU are willing and able to pay. Clemson?

With those stats you know he already has talked to a team and knows the playing time and money he'll receive. Not a fan of current collegiate football landscape with money and tampering. They should get rid of college teams, and just have affiliate minor league professional teams for each school. It's kinda silly that a higher learning institute that prepared me for my adult life is associated with professional sports. It's like Maine Univ hiring Stephen King to be their competitive author, i.e. a totally disparate area.
