Anyone else noticed that Little Debbie Oatmeal Pies are

11

Apr 11, 2023, 9:29 AM

not only getting smaller, but the cookie part is now dry and falls apart as you eat it? Got this latest box from Sam's. Expiration Date: May 30, 23

BTW...was in a store the other day where the individual cakes used to be $.39 each, or 3 for $1. They are now on "sale" at 2 for $4...or $2.19 each. Little Debbie!!!!

It all started when they went to the moon...

Maybe your hands are getting bigger and stronger. You just can't go around ham-fisting Little Debbie cakes without consequences.

That is what happens when Democrats keep printing money. Quantitative Easing really means "quickly erasing" your buying power.

Republicans are just as much at fault. QE1 happened under Bush. Nixon removing the Gold Standard

was the biggest culprit of the obliteration of the dollar's purchasing power. It started with the unconstitutional Federal Reserve Act of 1913 being passed, but removing the dollar from the Gold Standard was the start of our fiat currency. Both parties are to blame, and it's a shame a century's worth of clueless Americans let it happen without any real push back.

The current hyperinflation lies squarely in the lap of the Democrats.

Republicans as a whole have done nothing to rein in spending and stop borrowing and printing money

Apr 12, 2023, 8:24 AM

The $1.7 trillion omnibus spending package that McConnell and Senate Republicans decided to pass in Dec. is just the latest example. If anyone was truly concerned about the borrowing and printing of money that leads to inflation, they could have held it up and waited for the Republican led House to be sworn in.

Might not have been their brand but in the early 50's,a creme filled oatmeal cookie was at least 3 or times larger and cost a nickel. Had one on the way to school each day.

I used to buy snacks & drinks for the office, primarily at SAM’s & Costco. I quit shopping there when I noticed that the expiration dates were almost always close to the current date.

Ex- 6 pack of Coke from SAM’s, expiration in 2 weeks or less.
6 pack of Coke from Kroger, expiration in 2 months or more.

If you need a railroad car of stuff and it’s going to be consumed right now or if you don’t care about expiration dates, SAM’s and Costco are fine.

There’s a reason for the low price……and it AIN’T the membership that you paid for.

I've noticed this with sandwich bread too

3

My Bride buys the Nature's Own White Wheat. The bag is still the same size, but the loaf of bread is clearly smaller. I thought it was a joke when I saw it for the first time, but the last two have looked the same.

I’ve noticed that even my dogs’ snacks are much smaller than they used to be. Smaller in size and lesser number in the package. The good old double whammy.

Congress needs to stop pretending with all of these "investigations" and open a REAL investigation into the shrinking, dry Little Debbie situation.

Nutty Bars are way smaller also!

I Used to Love Little Debbie Oatmeal Pies

1

Apr 11, 2023, 9:42 AM

Until one day a buddy of mine in HS took me to play golf at his parents private club in Raleigh, NC. It was North Ridge Country Club. I don't know now but back in the mid-80s there was an "honor system" snack and beverage shack on the course and my buddy would grab like 12 Little Debbies and a Coke plus 5 Lance Crackers whenever we played.

One day I was hungry and from his pile of Little Debbies I ate like 5 of the pies. Lord they were yummy but my stomach hurt bad for a day. I still can only eat 1 before I get a bit queasy.

Man those things used to be really good. Now just so so.

My roommates and I left several of them openly exposed on top of the holly bushes at University Village Apartments in Central over Christmas break one year at Clemson. They were completely unaltered by weather or wildlife over a 3 to 4 week period.

Entropy has no sway over Little Debbie products. They are time itself.

Yes. Little Debbie cakes are the latest to suffer shrinkflation. Purchased some of the gingerbread ones last week and noticed they are at least one third the size of the Christmas printed box they had back in December. They also had put the logo and nutrition label on each individual cake's plastic wrap which was different.

Many of the products enjoyed in my early years are now a disappointment. The size and cost aren't so much of an issue as the quality, for me. I suppose it's partly to squeeze profit, but also to avoid sticker shock. On a side note, I believe that companies learned through the pandemic that they can create shortages, which if not more profitable, are more efficient.

Every one is shrinking stuff. I got a quarter pounder from McDonald's yesterday. First time in months. Since it is quarter pound before cooking, they have to be adding more fat to the meat. The burger was the size of a biscuit. They use to be much bigger.

You can compress a warm Krispy Kreme into about the size of a large pill ..... then just gulp down with a slosh of milk ........ or a slightly stale KK is great after about 7 seconds in a microwave.

I have found the Publix brand to be quite tasty and still 1/2 gallon. Works out to $3.75 per half gallon on BOGO sales.

Your cheaper gas happened because the US depleted its strategic oil reserves & flooded the market for a bit. Well, the US has very little strategic oil left comparatively so cheaper gas is over until the US starts drilling again.

During my K-12 school years, we took our own lunch to school. No cafeterias or anything like that. No exaggeration, probably 80+% of my school lunches consisted of a PBJ sandwich and a Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pie. No wonder I have a tremendous sweet tooth. The plant I worked at in Asheville from 2013-2019 had double decker Oatmeal Creme Pies in the vending machine - 3 cookies and 2 layers of filling and they were probably 4” in diameter. They were great.
