an irrelevant football conference? I'm not sure anyone at Clemson can see the writing on the wall and have the balls to make a move. I am legitimately worried.

If conference realignment has proven anything, it's that football is king. Clemson is one of a few expansion candidates with a great football program (FSU, ND, VT are the others). Unlike the ACC, the Big 12 and SEC aren't stupid enough to pass up a great football program when they expand.

Clemson has already made the move.
While Clemson was definitely looking into all of its options, I don't think they seriously considered making a move until the terms of Swofford's new contract with ESPN became know and placed Clemson (among others) at a significant financial/competitive disadvantage to its in-state rival.
For Clemson, I think that was the last straw.

I was pretty on the fence about this whole thing until today when a significant conference divide occurred. It' now pretty obvious what we should do but I'm nervous as hell that our administration won't get it done and we'll be playing Ciny and Rutgers every week.

I think Clemson football will eventually be OK regardless, but staying in a floundering ACC would probably set us back a few years.

talks have been taking place for sometime.
how can you believe the rumors and then question whether cu[who has reportedly been a party to them] will balk?
tie it together with the formation of the advisory committee formed in january by cu; harry frampton and others brought on to advise in the ever changing, competitive world of bigtime bidness, bigtime money and success.
coinkydink? maybe

I don't think our leadership is exactly proactive, but Clemson won't get left behind.
With our leadership, we might be in the PAC-12+4 but we will still be in a big boy football situation.

No. I'm pretty confident Clemson has been in contact with the Big 12 for some time now and has a spot reserved along with FSU when they're ready to pull the trigger. The poor TV contact sealed the decision. It's just a matter of time before we hear something official.

I am nervous and any Tiger fan should be. With that deal done today that almost guarentees that Notre Damemust join a conference in my opinion. IF they do it will be either big 12 or big 10. If its big 12 Clemson is being left out and big 12 will take notre dame and FSU. Va tech and nc state to sec leaves us out of it all. Clemson will NEVER be invited to SEC so people should just drop that completely.

There is so much riding on this that if we are left in a severely diminished ACC that we are screwed.

they have the balls to pull the trigger and make a move. It seems so obvious what to do but all too often our admin has made the wrong choice. Today clearly shows the ACC is on the outside looking in and will be a non-factor in CFB.

Our program will remain strong. The so-called big wigs don't define our program. Its the history and more importantly the 80K fans who show up every Saturday. Clemson will be ok, because of the fan support. No matter if we're in a rundown ACC or in the mighty SEC, we'll be fine.
