Any Clemson Historians out there?

Aug 17, 2020, 9:34 AM

Got this as a gift from my in-laws this weekend. Anyone know anything else about these?

Looks to be part of Clemson Cadet Uniform. My grandfather (Clemson Class of '48) says it predates his time.

The manufacturer on the back is "Wm C Rowland 1024 Race St. Phila. PA." Grandfather says their uniforms (and Citadel Cadets) were all made in Philadelphia.

Anyone know anything else about when and what this may have been from?

W C Rowland was a company that made swords for military cadets. They very likely could have made this buckle. Their swords show up at times at auctions or flea markets and are big sellers for collectors.

1948-1952 - we wore a blouse with a belt made from the same material with a simple open-face buckle.

I have one like yours with the belt as well. The leather is

certainly on it's last leg. The little manufacturer "plate" like the one in the auction is gone from mine.
