MELIA ISLAND, Fla. (Dec. 5, 2023) – Northeast Florida’s Amelia Island is preparing to welcome avid football fans from Clemson for a feline frenzy in the 79th TaxSlayer Gator Bowl, scheduled for noon on Friday, Dec. 29, at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. Located just 30 minutes from the stadium, Amelia Island is inviting friends and fans of the Tigers of Clemson University (8-4) and Wildcats of the University of Kentucky (7-5) to enjoy the island’s award-winning resorts and hotels as their bowl game headquarters. Amelia Island is proud to be the destination host for the Clemson Tiger team during their stay for the exciting college football showdown.

“With our easy access to Jacksonville, Amelia Island is a fan favorite for those attending the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl while sneaking in a relaxing beach vacation, all in the same weekend,” said Gil Langley, president and CEO of the Amelia Island Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Regardless of the final score, fans and friends of both teams can’t lose with a stay on Amelia Island.”
Many of the island’s top-rated hotels, resorts, and restaurants will be offering bowl game packages and holding special events for the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl. The Omni is super expensive during that week, but it a very nice property. We stayed there back in August and really enjoyed it. Two nice golf courses and a cool little par 3 if you like to play. Hotel is nice and service is great. Plenty of good food options at the resort.
I would love to stay there again, but I just cant justify paying 500 a night in December when the pool/beach is hit or miss weather wise.
