as for point spreads, they have nothing to do with who vegas thinks is the favorite.....the spread is based soley on the point where they get an equal amount of bets for both teams. i know dabo will always down play that we are vegas "favorite"....as he well should.

Yes, the line is set so half the money is made each way... which means setting a line (all the lines) that ends up paying out half and half.
A well used side note is on name brands...Yankees, Lakers, Duke hoops, and Notre dame football. A big line against these teams (making them a dog) is OFTEN a money maker for sports books that they do look for.
Emotional betting is bad betting...

I'm tired of hearing this silliness. from oddshark: "A point spread in sports is a figure set by oddsmakers to provide an advantage or disadvantage based on the margin of victory or defeat for a given team ... The reason oddsmakers do this is to provide betting interest for both sides due to one team typically being better than the other."
How do you think they set the spread? Which team do they expect to win by how much, hence the favorite.

I completely agree. The initial point spread is based specifically on how many points difference the Vegas power rating formulas calculate between the two teams. These power rating formulas tend to be pretty darn accurate over the long haul. When the point spread shifts over time leading up to a game that is a result of Vegas trying to get equal money on each side.

They are def not putting a spread out to lose money. Their hope is that people will think ND covers but they have a good idea that Clemson controls this game

that Beth Mowins isn't the announcer? I cannot STAND the way she talks when she announces. She sounds like a female Don Munson (almost as bad). There's no way they speak that way in real life. It's really annoying and distracting.

I hope she gets to call a bowl game. The Belk Bowl would be a good one

A Clemson gentleman would exercise discretion and not gratuitously trash Beth when she is obviously not going to be an announcer for this game.
