All time favorite ACC basketball coaches...

Who ya got?
Mine:
1 - Jim Valvano 2 - Bones McKinney 3 - Lefty Drisell
Funny story on Lefty....
Back in about 1981 or 1982, The student section sat directly behind the scorer's table. During pregame we were reading "The Tiger" as Lefty walked by. He looked at me and asked, "So what does the paper say?". I replied "Good article about how the Tigers will beat Maryland tonight."
Without missing a beat, he said, "I didn't think you Clemson [effers] could read."
WE all busted out laughing as he walked away with a wry smile....

Terry Holland was 1. Don't let that story get to social media, he'll have to apologize for hurting someone's feelings.

But the fact that he played for South Carolina..........

showed poor judgement on his part when he was younger.
And to think he was a millimeter away from leaving Tech to take the Coxx's HC job - would have but his wife told him she wasn't leaving Atlanta (true story).

Favorite? Not sure, but if there was one coach I would want to play for that would have been Skip Prosser
As an academic, Skip's focus on education and winning is above reproach and would require players to take a class on major trip/tournaments locations and would take the class himself as well. I think he was a professor that figured out that basketball paid better. Great guy.
And his games were offensive fuel chaos.

I used to love watching Terry Hollland and UVA vs Carl Tacy and WF. It was like a coaching clinic and a chess match. Sub a scorer or defender on each end of the final few possessions in a game and try to create a mismatch, steal or score! There may have been better tesms at UNC, Duke, Md and even GA Tech, but no better game coaches!
