And yet again 4 teams from the ACC make the sweet 16. Yet all the other conferences like the B12 and SEC were whining about everything going into the tourney.

You’d never hear this crap about the top football conferences, but every year it’s the same song and dance that the ACC is down in basketball until tournament time comes.

but Clemson is playing above the standard they’ve played to this season.

NCST is on an historical run well above their season’s standard.

But neither resurgence is to carry an ACC banner and doesn’t really reflect on the competitive body of the teams in the conference. It is literally just “good for us and them”.

It is odd that of the four seeds, we weren’t distributed evenly. We’ll have to prune our own before the Final Four.

NCSU and Clemson deserve HUGE credit for these two wins. Tougher to win these tourney games than any conference game. Folks throw the kitchen sink at ya.

And SEC deserves to be discredited for the past 4 days.

This IS a reflection of the quality of the conferences. Clemson beat Bama and the coots.

Folks don’t understand the depth of the ACC. Notre Dame was a very competitive team at the end of the season. GTech could beat anybody on a given day.

Not true. We played many games at a very high level such as the win at Bama, the win against the coots, the loss at Duke and the win at UNC. We did have some losses we would like back but not unusual in college basketball.

I propose we just agree to disagree.

You are right about the games you point out. The season started out as well as it could have.

But I’m referring to the average of the floor with which we approach every game. It also might include the maturity every team gains as it plays together over time — “are we growing together”.

Regardless of splitting this hair, we can agree we are proud of the effort they are putting in at this most important time.

The day before the tournament started an Auburn bud of mine said the SEC is now what the ACC used to be. I called him a homer and now he’s upset. I stopped short of telling him he sounded like a coot. He’s the same one who defended Steele and Muschamp to me some years ago.
