After looking at the polls and watching other teams play

Nov 3, 2013, 6:07 PM

I think Clemson is ranked appropriately. IMO we aren't playing as well as the likes of FSU and Oregon, but we are clearly a top ten team. A few more wins, and we could move into the top 5 before the season ends, but as long as we beat the coots at the end of the season, we should get a bcs bowl bid.

It's crazy to think how far our program has come in just a few years. I remember in the Bowden era, we would be happy just to be ranked in the top 25. Now we get to pull for a team ranked among the best in the nation, with players up for some of the most prestigious awards in college football.

It's a good time to be a tiger.

It's not a question of playing well, but rather how you would do when facing those top 6 teams.
I personally do not think Clemson would beat Bama,Oregon,we know they lost badly to FSU,and I do not think they would beat Baylor or Standford.
If we win out,get that BCS bowl bid you think, and win it then I would say we are a top 10 team.
But lose to the coots, and not get that BCS bid, then you probably drop outside that top 10.

Lose to USC and we will not be nor should be even considered to be Top 10...I'm beginning to feel pretty good about that game, although I think USC will eat up that quick screen to Sammy all night long. We are going to have to man up in the line on both sides of the ball to win that one. I think it is clear their defense is not as good as last years.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I felt worse about our chances against the Coots after

Nov 4, 2013, 8:48 PM

Saturday. The running game isn't going to be facing Virginia's defense, and you said yourself, they will eat up the Sammy screen. Hope some big downfield throws are in order for that night....

Yeah anybody who thinks otherwise hasn't watched much football outside of ours games

Considering both teams bring their A game in hypothetical matchups we would beat Stanford Ohio State and maybe Baylor.

Re: After looking at the polls and watching other teams play

I'd have the top 10 power rankings like this.

Class A:
FSU
Oregon

Class B:
Bama
Clemson
Ohio State
Baylor

Class C:
Stanford
Missouri
Auburn
Oklahoma

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Bama in Class B......lol..........please pass me some of

They allowed 42 against A&M, a team that lost to Auburn and haven't beaten anyone of note this season...I'll put them in class A if they can manage not to lose or just scrape by LSU.

They don't belong anywhere near FSU or Oregon who have blown out everyone put in front of them.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

When Bama beats FSU or Oregon in the National Championship,

Nov 4, 2013, 9:09 PM

get back to me. The A&M game was over long before Bama went to sleep on defense and allowed A&M to make it interesting. They aren't losing or scraping by LSU. They are going to mash LSU into the ground and remind people they are still around, and still the best team in the nation. I think people are just really sick of Bama and are praying and hoping and thinking irrationally this Oregon or FSU team is the one that takes them down.

Re: When Bama beats FSU or Oregon in the National Championship,

Nov 4, 2013, 9:17 PM

Since that A&M game their opponents have a combined record of 18-34 with only Ole Miss having a winning record. LSU is not the same LSU they have been but they aren't a cupcake like the teams Bama's been playing either. I personally think they'll lose to LSU but like I said, if they manage not to lose or scrape by LSU, then maybe they can be considered in the same class with FSU and Oregon.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think you maybe are the only person discussing Bama

Nov 4, 2013, 9:21 PM

as a team that can crack into the Top 2 while the rest of the college football world is debating who is the team that can challenge the Tide the best and possibly take them down.

Re: I think you maybe are the only person discussing Bama

Nov 4, 2013, 9:26 PM

Lol, that's because the rest of the world takes their cue's from eSECpn. Anybody actually watching the games without bias would tell you that Oregon and FSU are on different levels right now.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why are they on different levels? Oregon has had one

Nov 4, 2013, 9:57 PM

substantial win over UCLA. FSU has had a victory over us and in my opinion, a heavily overranked Miami team. Bama took out A&M. The rest of the victories for all three of these teams could be looked at as garbage wins which leaves us looking at whose big wins are most impressive. At this point, I'm going with FSU's win over us and Bama's win at TAMU's home field, thus reinforcing my belief they are currently the best two teams in the nation, as the BCS says also.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

But Bama in class A. Put Stanford in class B. Bama's 25-0

Nov 4, 2013, 9:36 PM [ in reply to Re: After looking at the polls and watching other teams play ]

shutout over Ole Miss as impressive as anything I've seen this year just more unspectacular as some others.

Saban isn't a moron, the Tide can adjust to anyone, and

Nov 4, 2013, 9:17 PM

they will have what seems like six years to prepare for either FSU or Oregon. Everyone gets caught up in what the offenses will do to Bama, when they seem to forget Bama has a pretty darn good offense as well that knows how to pound it down the field and chew up clock. I'm already on record here saying I want to see Bama and FSU because I find those teams more similar and an intriguing match up. If Oregon doesn't come out firing on all cylinders, they will give the ball up after three downs, Bama will run it down their throats, and the game will be out of hand before they know it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Saban isn't a moron, the Tide can adjust to anyone, and

Nov 4, 2013, 9:25 PM

So what was the excuse for the A&M game? They have almost a year to prepare for Johnny and still couldn't stop him. If A&M had anything that even partly resembled a defense, they would have beat Bama again.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

A&M started off fast, Bama adjusted, started destroying them

Nov 4, 2013, 9:34 PM

and then Johnny made a late run to make it interesting. I don't know why this is so hard for you to accept.

Re: After looking at the polls and watching other teams play

Nov 4, 2013, 9:28 PM

Why would Mizzou be in any different level than Clemson

Both beat UGA, Mizzou lost in OT to a top 15 team

Clemson lost by a ton to the #5 team at home

not sure there is enough football played yet to get a good read on any of these teams.

Let Clemson play USC, Bama vs LSU, Stanford, Oregon, FSU has nobody left so we have to take the spanking in DV as their signature win

Lots left, Clemson beats USC 100% they go to BCS

USC beats Clemson 40% chance they go to BCS

Either way sets up for a battle in the state of SC in a few weeks

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not sure what game you watched

Nov 4, 2013, 9:37 PM

But the adjustments were on offense A&M punted once if I recall.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not completely disagreeing with you

Nov 4, 2013, 10:00 PM

But auburn beat A&M there too. So far FSU has given to teams their only loss on the season that is impressive no matter which way you look at it. Oregon and Bama don't even have one of those wins.
