Advice on Tonal home gym or is there a better choice?

I hate driving to the gym so I am looking at a home gym. I want to put it in my garage and have it take up VERY LITTLE space. Tonal is the gym I am looking at, it seems to check all the boxes. Are there better options?

Did anyone else notice that Edward Norton is doing the voice over for the ad?

Besides being at home and taking up minimal space …what are your fitness goals?

The tonal system is $3K…Is it worth that?

Most people who buy equipment for their home end up selling it a few years later at a steep discount. The issue is having the discipline to use it. I don't have that discipline so scheduling time at the Y helps with my accountability. Not sure what equipment is the best but for sure buy something used as the market is flooded with options at a steep discount.

I got this about 5 years ago (used to be on Amazon, you can still find great ones there but I can vouch for the quality of this power rack):

Any power rack with safety bars and you can bench or squat to 1RM and be safe.

You can get 600 lbs of Olympic plates with an Olympic barbell from ##### for really cheap, I got 2 sets of them when building my home gym.

Can even add pulley systems if you want but that will cover everything you need to boost your testosterone and get shredded. Compound lifts are the key. Good luck and bang some iron.

It's best to pick up workout equipment in June / July - used. The NY resolution motivation has passed, they're collecting dust, somebody can use some extra vacay cash, and it's also when a lot of folks move and many of these are things they'd rather not hassle with packing up and lugging around.

Check out Play it Again Sports in Mt. P for used weights and bars. Pick up a rack from D!ck’s or Rogue Fitness and add some pulley systems for static lifts (from Rogue).

You can do all this for well under $4k. There are some rack systems that fold up to a wall to lock out of the way when not in use to save space.
