Why not play Davis and Lay (tight ends) to help block since O line not getting it done

Can also send one or both out for passes

I could be totally wrong, but I was under the impression that blocking is why JayLay isnt getting PT. I am also perplexed however, as to why we keep trying to make Galloway happen when Davis has appeared to be more productive.

I can't imagine J Lay is not a better blocker than Galloway.

Couple that with the drops he has made, I'm not sure what he does better than Lay, Ennis and Briningstool.

For a team that was supposed to be so deep, we have too many position groups that have little to no rotation. In this case, there doesn't appear to be a performance based reason.

Davis actually catches it when you throw it to him. Galloway has been disappointing with the dropped passes. His potential is through the roof; but something isn't connecting all the dots for him. Lay can't be any worse; I wouldn't think.

For one neither does it well

I disagree

While Allen isn’t a road grader TE, he is a good all around TE. He’s shown good route running and hands and doesn’t completely miss blocks like Galloway.

Adding a TE on the line adds another defender to the box.

Doesn't necessarily help the offensive line. Also, why would power running in 12 personnel work in a game if we don't practice it? There's your answer.

The Oline issues are not covered by the TE. Most of what I am seeing for oline issues is:

1. DJ is holding onto the ball to long. 1/2 of our sacks are coverage sacks when DJ needed to take off.
2. A few of our guys have flubbed the edge-rusher. Happened at least twice for Parks(?) vs Jawja
3. Missing assignments with linebackers. Both for pass protection as well as downfield blocking assignments.

FWIW, the tweet/vid claiming bad oline play with a designed DJ rush is actually the opposite. The oline did what it was supposed to do. Maybe a missed linebacker assignment but that might have been for the TE. The secondary had to make the tackle so that isn't on the Oline.
