Beasley stands by his statement on Clowney, looks to make an impact against FSU
Senior defensive end Vic Beasley raised more than a few eyebrows when he told Sports Illustrated that he thought he was a better player than former South Carolina and current Houston Texan defensive end Jadeveon Clowney. Beasley told TigerNet earlier this week that he stands by his statement, and he hopes he can show the entire nation the kind of talent he possesses when the Tigers take on top-ranked Florida St. Saturday night in Tallahassee. Well Mr. Beastley go out there and make Tiger nation proud! In fact, make sure BOTH quarterbacks leave that game limping, hurting and regretting ever stepping foot on that field. GO TIGERS!!!!!

That kind of bragging and bluster by any of our players really makes me nervous, especially before a big game. Where was Vic during the UGA game? Because of his lack of size and inability to play the run I'm not convinced he's even our best DE. If he doesn't up his words against Fla. State, he's going to have a lot of crow to eat, and there'll no excuses.

Yeah Beasley said it but he wasn't the one who decided to make it a headline. Not once but twice in a week. I love tigernet and the writing is great. Just wondering why this needs to be a headline. Beasley is a beast and awesome DE but it sounds so bragadocious and egotistical on his part. I can understand "I feel like I'm nfl ready", or "I feel like I'm one of the best" but the current statement sounds like someone begging for a status that their game doesn't justify. Maybe a story by a nfl scout "he's as good as clowney in his speed and technique ". That sounds better. As opposed to the self agrandisement. Teams don't gameplan around him like clowney. They just don't. His overall impact is less than clowney. It just is. Can he be a first round pick? Yes and can be a great nfl starter for a long time. Is he a classier person than clowney? Yes by far. Why can't that be good enough? This wouldn't be a headline if clowney weren't a gamecock. It's an attempt to one up a rival and it failed. Go Tigers!!!!!! We are better than that.

Don't plan for Beasley? Really? If coaches don't plan for excellent players, they won't stay coaches long. The big difference is that the clown had the media hanging all over him after the One hit Wonder play against Michigan. It's great that Beasley is finally getting some credit since he will blow all of the clowns stats away before he leaves clemson. It's good to see him get the press. It isn't bragging if you can back it up...coot.

And the Memorial Stadium record in his only visit.
Beasley's career to date (37 games): 47 solo tackles 15 assists 62 total tackles 31 tackles for loss 23 sacks

I think a point to make here is that Beasley didn't say his numbers are better than Clowney's. No doubt Clowney was the better player out of high school, and his numbers reflect that. I think Beasley really 'figured out' the position last year, which is also reflected in his numbers. Will his overall numbers be better? Who cares, but I think it is safe to say Beasley improved a lot more than Clowney, and without question, has the better attitude when it comes to leaving it on the field, even if he has a hangnail.

And he won't fake an injury or not give it his all as Clowney did. Beasley has more character in his little finger than Clowney has in his being. Is Clowney gifted? Absolutely! Would I trust him to have my back in a fight? NO!

They absolutely take him into account in their game plans, just like they did for Clowney. Both are worthy of planning for. A huge difference in the two is character. Beasley doesn't take any plays off, much less take games off, or not practice, etc.

Vic is the key to winning this game. He has to have a big game for us to win. If we can't pressure their qbs, it doesn't matter how well our offensive line blocks.

I like Beasley - tremendous potential, and seems like a good guy. But, to this point in time, he has not made the impact of Clowney, nor did he lool good against Georgia. In fact, he was gassed. Nevertheless, he can be great. Prove it Sat!

quarter of play, score, time remaining, personnel in the game (read: quarterback), momentum, crowd noise, whether the camera is pointed - the entire defense down to a man needs to carry this chip on their shoulder, after last year's beating and subsequent Jameison taunts.
I'll be disappointed if they don't.

The offense needs to show up with that chip as well and play 4 quarters of football, not fold in the 2nd half. They cost us the game against UGA.

And BTW, on this point, why do offensive lineman almost never come out and make "chip" statements? Why is it always the defensive guys?

You are better! He never has shown me anything but being lazy. I would never picked him 1st round. What a joke. He had that one hit in the Michigan game that I could have made if nobody block me and the running back ran straight to me. It's amazing how one can get so much attention on one hit that was given as a gift.

Let's see the Coot was 3-0 against us and he's 0-3 against them during his tenure, so that makes a lot of sense. Quite running your mouth and put it on the field is what I say.
