While waiting for kickoff....question for the BC road trip:

Sep 5, 2022, 2:34 PM

I have been to Boston a few times...done some tourist stuff. I am taking the family up for the game that Wednesday.

For those who have been to BC before, what are good recommendations for excursions that are easy day trips or half-day activities?

If you're into it, a day trip up to NH to check out the fall colors is always laid back. Also, about an hour south is Plymouth and the Pilgrim Village. Also some decent seafood around Plymouth.

Cape Cod - anywhere on the Cape, but Hyannis would be a good close stop. Or go all the way to Provincetown (P-Town, as it's known).

North to Vermont/New Hampshire for some leaf-peeping. Depending on how far north you want to travel, you could go to Stowe or Burlington, VT. Ben & Jerry's factory is up that way.

Western Mass - Springfield has the Basketball HOF; The Berkshires are beautiful

Portland, Maine has a great downtown.

I'm also very partial to a closer trips to Newburyport, Salem, Gloucester. Excellent Coastal New England towns with shops and fantastic food options. Historic sites too.

I don't jnow the area real well but a friend told me Martha's Vineyard does not have any wineries. So saving you from their false advertising. ;)

Duck boat tour in downtown. If staying in the Back Bay Area downtown there is a lot to do on foot. The wife and I fly in on Wednesday also staying at the Sheraton. This is our favorite road trip. PS tour of Fenway is fun

Newport, Rhode Island is a great option. 90 minute drive from Boston. Visit some of the mansions and then visit harbor area for bars/food.
