It seems that physically Clemson, while still good, may need to reevaluate.
Please don’t misconstrue my words - Clemson is still a physical team WITHOUT A DOUBT. Just asking an honest question?
Then, watching Alabama totally out physical and dismantle Ohio State makes us all ponder if Alabama has just completely distanced itself from everyone?

looking only at the ability to run the ball and at the OL and DLs in the running game only. However, our WRs whipped their DBs physically and vice-versa. We also allowed no sacks and sacked Tua several times. This along with out-coaching them caused the end result.

Before the game, that Alabama team was 'the best college team of all time', but I never heard that repeated after the game.
Also, all the Alabama jerseys and hoodies disappeared in the hotel and airport after the game!!
Alabama, Georgia, LSU, are always going to be tough, but so is Clemson! Every team has 'off' years.
Everything has to click to win a championship!
Go Tigers, Beat Georgia!

the difference in past years. Barring injury our next two on the DL should legitimately get us back in the title hunt. Our limitation this year will be our duty of keeping DJ healthy. Which might impact playbook and scheme from the QB perspective a little. But we shall see. I think DL,LB we should improve which helps us on the back end. I'm not sure Clemson has ever been really physical in the def. backfield. But up front we've usually been the bully. Not so much the past two years. But both years we still competed for the CFP so...Dabo's doing something right.

Ohio St. played lights out against us but was absolutely destroyed by our D. He was barely able to move against Bama. Tons of credit and respect to Fields for not making excuses. He showed that he was a full grown man. Ohio St. was the best team on the field the night we played as was LSU the year before. Clemson does not always win but we seldom lose. I can live with that.
I'm not sure why you're here... comic relief? You're not going to change any minds here about your team and no Tiger fan is going to wake up one morning and say "I think I'll start pulling for UGA... you know, because they won a Natty 42 years ago AND they play in the SEC". Like I said, comic relief. I'll take my guys, have fun with yours.

I watched the GA/Cinn game again today. How much did y’all pay that Cinn coach to choke away a victory over those unbeatable mutts? That game was wrapped up for Cinn until those head scratching calls on Cinn’s last possession. GA might as well have been playing at home and let that Group of 5 school whip them up and down the field. Do you think Clemson would have finished GA off? You are about to get that answer and the Tigers will step on the mutt’s throat. That will answer the question you raise about physical play.

I dunno, I was definitely pulling for Cincinnati, but UGA had to kick a big one just to go up by 1. This was a really fun bowl game to watch, honestly. I wish we were playing Cincinnati this year, now that I think about it!

I agree with that assessment. If we go back several years the same thing happened with us against South Carolina. After Spurrier got to South Carolina he realized they were just getting whipped by us and their training and recruiting changed and they beat us 5 in a row. It starts upfront on the offensive line and that is one of our big question marks this year.

I will bite. As was said below, we have been out-physicalled most years by Alabama (as are nearly everyone else). The 3 years I would say we weren’t were ‘16-‘18. Some would argue ‘18 we were overwhelmed, but that to me was not a line issue, but a QB issue.
I would agree our line play must improve for us to again be a legitimate contender.

We were better than Bama in 15, they won that game on coaching. If we would have had Mike Williams in that game we win by double digits.

No doubt Clemson took a step back defensively after the 2018 season. That D line made the back 7 look pretty good. Hopefully the D line will improve and make everything else click.

Everyone conveniently keeps forgetting that OSU…

Played 5 fewer games than us, and against relatively weak competition. They looked 5 games fresher and were insanely motivated for that game - they had built their entire off-season toward rematching us. They basically blew their wad against us and had little left for Bama. Fields got beat up against us and Sermon went down early against Bama.
I’d have like to have seen that game after OSU had played a full season. That game will always have an asterisk in my book.

Losing Turner for the first half was rough, Davis was playing on one leg, we were missing 3 of our top WR’s… plenty of excuses to be made. Bottom line is we came out flat and it was OSU’s super bowl and they played a near perfect game. Stinger of a game and have been even worse. I don’t plan on rewatching and hopefully the team is just as motivated by it this year as OSU was.
Nothing left to do but cut some nuts in the opener.

A young DL and a young OL yea it was bound to happen. that OL had a ONE player with more than 20 starts that as Carmen and he was hurt most of the season and powered through it. They will be fresher and motivated to prove that their last outing wasn't their best. Our DL will probably be as good as the power rangers. You gotta remember Wilkins, Ferrel, Lawrence, Bryant, and Huggins all got drafted. Those men were dogs in the trenches. I think Murphy, Breese, Davis, Henry, Thomas and Co will be deeper than we were then. You gotta remember we have kids that didnt even play last year. Foster, Capehart, Williams, Page and some others highly regarded players were redshirted last year. this will probably be the deepest DL room we have had in a long time.

Bahaha, keep telling yourself that the opener will be OK, mutt. Neither of the past two seasons featured the D your pups will face. And your DBs will not be allowed to pass interfere like LSU and OSU are always allowed to do. Chase would have not had the night he had, if our DBs were also allowed to play that "physical". We shadow WRs because we get called for playing that style.

Clemson had the ball, final 42-25. One month earlier and midway through the third qtr it was that same LSU team 31 Georgia 3, final 37-10. LSU called off the dogs on offense because Georgia could not score, they kept the dogs in vs Clemson because they knew we could.
you should be more concerned about Georgia's 209 performance vs LSU and Alabama.
