First here is a little back ground. When USuC hired Spurlid the USuC Admin services searched for a home for the family.They settled on a home in Wood Creek Farms in a gated area of the subdivision. I know the person from whom they purchased the home. He and 2 of his best friend's had bought lots and built homes there. He figured out whom the home was being purchased for and stood very firm on price and after several offers they ended up paying full retail. Well they did not do a very good job of vetting the neighbors because the new neighbors were BIG Clemson fans. When the spurlid's wake up they get a great view of the tiger paw in the pool next door with the paw shaped putting green next to the pool. The first time I meet OBS was the first year he arrived and had our picture taken in front of the CLEMSON Christmas tree. He was not what I expected to be honest, their were a bunch of hard core USuc fans in attendance. You know the ones, shirts unbuttoned and hairy chest with gold chains in full view. They absolutely aggravated him to the point he wanted to disappear. I ended up talking with him for a while and he is a lot different in that kind of setting than the clips we see. I did get the impression that he did not understand the rivalry at all at that time. Do not get me wrong he is enemy and I do not care to be around him. I played in the Hootie tournament with coach Holtz and George Rogers I wanted to ask for my money back but I was a last minute add and played for free. Holtz was an idiot an every sense of the word, I will give people a chance but he is worse in person than what you see on TV.
My point is even though he coaches SCAR he has to come home to Clemson every day. I will give Dabo props he is one of a very few coaches that does not take crap off of the OBS. A lot of guys just do not respond, why I do not know. Any way after living in the belly of the beast for 20 + years it is great to back in the upstate where life is a little bit more Orange.
