Sounding like the scheduling alliance is dead. Not

surprising. Never thought it would happen anyway.

I may be wrong( and if I am please tell me) but the Alliance was never so much about scheduling games between the ACC, The Big 10 or the Pac 12,but rather was formed as a counter means to block the SEC from expanding the playoffs as to allow more SEC teams to participate.
If allowed, for example a 12 team playoff could possibly include as many as 5 or 6 SEC teams while leaving out equally qualified ACC ,Big 10 and PAC 12 teams because of the clout that the # 1 conference might be able to yield.
Just my take.

The whole 'Alliance" ,that was formed with no more than a pinky swear among the commissioners, was a joke from day one. Like I said 6 months ago. Anyone who expected anything to come from it was doomed to disappointment. It was nothing more than a publicity stunt by the other conferences because they got played so hard by the SEC. If they were going to do something it should have been more substantial like merging into two conferences or something that would actually level the playing field. Instead we got... An "Alliance". Ridiculous.

I understand your point, but could it not be used to to block , say like a veto, any moves by the SEC in regards to expanding the playoff's or possibly raiding the 3 conferences for expansion?

I suppose it could if there were collaboration between the different conferences.. but there is nothing to enforce cooperation. So as soon as one conference is promised something extra for their vote one way or the other the alliance will mean nothing. So is it really an alliance at all? Who does it benefit? I remember that being the big selling point.. but has anything happened to live up to that claim. I have heard nothing but crickets about the alliance since the first two week media blitz and propaganda push.

Didn't it effectively put a pause on playoff expansion?***
